Streak: Delphos St. John's has won 14 straight games over the Wildcats. Minster last beat the Blue Jays in 1996.
Boys Soccer: St. Marys 3, Elida 1
The St. Marys boys soccer team kept its record unblemished and reversed recent misfortune against Elida with a pair of late goals in a 3-1 win on Thursday night at West Field.
Tyler Kovar put in the go-ahead goal with 14 minutes left and the Riders’ Brennan Brown added another insurance goal less than three minutes later.
Mary Helmstetter, 87, of St. Marys, died on Thursday Sept. 8, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
Arrangements are being completed with the Miller – Long and Folk Funeral Home, 314 W. High St., St. Marys.
Myrtle Mae Lietz, 92, formerly of 601 S. Main St., St. Marys, and a resident of the St. Marys Living Center, died at 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at the St. Marys Living Center.
She was born on May 6, 1919, in Clay Township, the daughter of Osborn and Nancy (Brackney) Dudgeon, and they preceded her in death.
On Dec. 16, 1939, she married Ned Lietz, and he preceded her in death on July 21, 1999.
Geraldine C Leohner, 97, died on Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at Wesley Glen Retirement Community, where she had lived for the past six years.
She was born on Wednesday, June 24, 1914, in Rockbridge, the third daughter of William and Blanche (Starner) Primmer, and they preceded her in death.
On Sept. 26, 1936, she married Robert Grant Leohner, and he preceded her in death on May 31, 1977, after 40 years of marriage.
Buddy M. Dials, 70, of 911 W. Spring St., St. Marys, died at 11:45 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011, at his residence.
He was born on July 13, 1941, in Martin County, Ky., to Abslon and Orgie (Meade) Dials, and they preceded him in death.
On June 24, 1976, in Columbus, he married Nancy L. Shoffstall, and she survives him.
CELINA — A local campus head spoke to a networking group about her rise to her current career position during the group’s monthly meeting.
Bonnie Mathies, the dean of Wright State University Lake Campus, spoke to members of the Auglaize/Mercer Women in Business Networking Association and members of the Lake Campus’ Women Supporting Women group.
Mathies’ speech was titled “Who Knew” — and she described her journey from her college graduation to being named dean of the Lake Campus in May.
WAPAKONETA — A Cincinnati man was killed Thursday morning after he was pinned between two CSX railcars.
According to a news release issued by Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon, Dennis A. Hemme, 59, of Cincinnati, was killed after he was pinned between two train cars on the CSX rail just south of Taylor Road in Auglaize County. The sheriff’s office received a phone call reporting the incident at 5:16 a.m. Thursday.
