CELINA — Grand Lake entered a four-game home stretch this week hoping to make up ground on the playoff contenders in the GLSCL. Instead, the Mariners’ dimming playoff hopes flickered even more as they lost their eighth out of last 10 games on Wednesday night.
The Lima Locos methodically downed the Mariners 8-1 on another hot, hazy night at Jim Hoess Field in Celina.
Grand Lake (10-18) dropped to 1-2 on the current homestand — with only a make-up game tonight against South Division leader Southern Ohio left to make up ground.
Robert H. Hegemier, 88, of 1909 Kishler Drive, St. Marys, died at 2:15 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at St. Marys Living Center.
He was born on Jan. 12, 1923, in Ansonia, to Emil and Martha (Vogel) Hegemier, and they preceded him in death.
On May 27, 1944, at Walnut Grove Methodist Church in rural Auglaize County, he married Mary Lea Schamp, and she survives him.
Walter H. Stinebaugh, 88, of Wapakoneta, died at 3:40 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at Wapakoneta Manor. Arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home in Wapakoneta, where the family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
Tim Siemer, 45, of St. Marys, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at the James Cancer Center of The Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus.
Arrangements are being completed with Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Antionette K. Schoch, 89, of St. Louis, Mo., formerly of Celina, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at the Missouri Baptist Medical Center in St. Louis.
She was born on April 4, 1922, in St. Peter, to Frank and Cecelia (Brown) Link, and they preceded her in death.
On June 20, 1946, she married Leon D. Schoch, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 25, 2005.
She is survived by two sons, Ken (Sandy) Schoch of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Rick (Carla) Schoch of Columbus; a daughter, Pam Muhlenkamp of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
John J. Hinders, 86, of Celina, died at 1:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
He was born on May 30, 1925, in Celina, to Judge Homer J. and Emma Louise (Pax) Hinders, and they preceded him in death.
On Sept. 16, 1950, he married Jean Elaine Reny, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 15, 1964. On April 16, 1966, he married Virginia A. Gabriel, and she survives him.
Maxine R. Hanjora, 82, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at her residence near Kemp in Allen County.
She was born on Oct. 30, 1928, in Toledo, to Kenneth H. and Elsie Ina Meek Aurand, and they preceded her in death.
On Oct. 30, 1953, she married Richard Hanjora, and he survives her.
James D. “Jim” Davis, 76, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at his residence at Grand Lake St. Marys in Celina.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; his children, Don, JD and Nan Davis Huckeriede; three grandchildren; two sisters; two brothers.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Marys Community Foundation/Jim Davis Scholarship Fund, 146 E. Spring St., St. Marys, 45885, for an educational scholarship established in his name.

Maxine R. Hanjora, 82, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at her home near Kemp.
She was the wife of Richard Hanjora.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville, where friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday.
The funeral will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
