Suspects Face Charges In Heroin Case

CELINA — Formal charges have been filed against a Celina couple in connection with search warrants that were served on a Celina residence on Wednesday.  

James R. Baker, 30, was charged with possession of heroin, a third-degree felony.  Baker was taken into custody as he was returning to his home at Lot 19, 537 Touvelle Street, Wednesday afternoon.  A canine check of the vehicle he was driving led to the confiscation of heroin with an estimated street value of $1,400.

Celina Couple Faces Heroin Charges

CELINA — A Celina couple is facing felony charges in connection with a Celina Police Department investigation into heroin sales within the city.  

On Wednesday, officers were able to substantiate information concerning heroin allegedly being sold out of a trailer located at 537 Touvelle St.  Members of the Grand Lake Drug Task Force were contacted for assistance in monitoring the residence.

Resident Questions Board Policy

ST. MARYS — A local resident questioned a school board’s policy during the board’s meeting Wednesday evening.

During the public participation portion of the St. Marys Board of Education meeting Wednesday evening, resident Bret Abbott requested board members look into a policy that regulates third-party staff members, such as probation officers and law enforcement officers, as well as resource officers.

2nd Wine Case Dismissed

ST. MARYS — The second criminal case against a St. Marys optometrist was dismissed on Wednesday.

Auglaize County Prosecuting Attorney Ed Pierce filed a motion to dismiss the second criminal case against Douglas J. Wine, who was charged with two counts each of rape, first-degree felonies, gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies, and sexual battery, third-degree felonies. Wine was scheduled to stand trial on the charges starting Feb. 7 and was scheduled for a final pretrial at 9:30 a.m. Friday.

Hazel P. (Ginger) Rudolph, 90

Hazel P. (Ginger) Rudolph, 90, of 910 N. Sugar St., Celina, died at 1:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2012, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home.

She was born on Nov. 15, 1921, in West Milton, to Harley and Rosa (Bond) Newman, and they preceded her in death.

On March 22, 1945, she married Leroy Rudolph, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 1994.

She is survived by a daughter, Dusky (Sharon) Crosley of Azle, Texas; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Newman; five brothers; two sisters.
