NEW BREMEN — Area councilors voted to rescind a measure they passed at their previous meeting.
New Bremen Mayor Jeff Pape noted councilors moved too fast with passing the Community Reinvestment Area agreement resolution with Brookside Laboratories as an emergency during their previous meeting, and councilors moved to pass other related pieces during their meeting Tuesday evening.
Village Solicitor Steve Smith suggested councilors rescind the previous legislation.
October 25th
Auglaize County volleyball players were named to the recently released Midwest Athletic Conference All-League list.
New Knoxville senior middle hitter Haley Dillon and Minster senior libero Dana Stucke were named First Team All-MAC.
Kassi Brown, a Minster senior, Karli Jones, a New Bremen sophomore setter, and Haley Horstman, a New Knoxville sophomore setter, all earned Second Team All-MAC.
CELINA — The St. Marys girls soccer team emerged from a tie with rival Celina in mid-September feeling like they'd let one slip away.
St. Marys gets another crack at the Bulldogs — this time with a district title game berth on the line.
The Roughriders (12-1-4) will play Celina (12-1-3) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. in a district semi-final match at Celina.
The St. Marys Memorial High School winter sports meeting will be held on Thursday, Oct. 27 in the high school auditorium at 8 p.m. The meeting is mandatory for any student-athlete and parent who desires to participate in winter sports and did not attend the fall sports meeting in August. Anyone with more questions can contact St. Marys athletic director Doug Spencer.
ST. MARYS — After seeing a trend in students choosing online learning over traditional classroom learning, a local high school has developed a program where select students have the option of going to school on the web or through a mix of online and traditional classes.
St. Marys Memorial High School Principal Dave Lewis and teacher Dave Huber developed the MHS Virtual Learning Academy this summer, with this school year being the inaugural year for the online program.
CELINA — Celina police and fire departments responded to an injury traffic crash in the 500 block of E. Market Street at 10:27 p.m. Monday night.
A vehicle driven by Joseph A. Ritchie, 20, 804 Wilkens St., Apt A, Celina, was westbound on East Market Street when the driver lost control and veered off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle struck a no parking sign and brushed a pole holding a private business sign at the northeast corner of Market and Pike streets.

Division II Girls Sectional Soccer
St. Marys 5, Van Wert 0
CELINA — The pretenses of smooth-sailing sectional finals out of the way for both the Celina and St. Marys girls soccer teams, the match they’ve been waiting almost two months to replay is set.
St. Marys captured the Division II sectional title at Celilna with a workmanlike 5-0 win over Van Wert to set up a rematch with rival Bulldogs.
Celina defeated Wapakoneta 3-0 on Saturday in the first sectional title game.
ST. MARYS — Three St. Marys alumni joined the ranks of 12 others to be inducted into the St. Marys Memorial High School Alumni Foundation Hall of Fame.
J. Paul VanderHorst, John D. Kuenzel and Robert W. Reed were the fifth class to be inducted into the hall of fame during the annual event Saturday evening at the St. Marys Eagles.

The St. Marys football team lived on the edge.
The Riders played it a little too close for comfort against an 0-8 team for three quarters, but St. Marys also found all the big plays it needed on the flanks of the Van Wert run defense to finally put away the Cougars.
After going to the half tied, St. Marys scored 20 unanswered points keyed by big plays in the second half to snap a three-game losing streak with a 34-14 win over a winless-but-scrappy Van Wert squad at Skip Baughman Stadium on Hall of Fame induction night on Friday.
ROCKFORD — Minster defeated fellow Midwest Athletic Conference opponent Parkway 28-16 in a must-win game for the Wildcats on Friday night.
