Thomas A. Rain, 60, of 27 Summerplace Drive, Wapakoneta, died at 8:06 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.
He was born on Dec. 27, 1951, in Celina, to Harold and R. Maxine (Uncapher) Rain, and they preceded him in death.
Irma E. Oldiges, 96, of Minster, died at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center.
She was born on Oct. 11, 1915, in Russia, to Amedee and Clara (Couchot) Didier, and they preceded her in death.
On Sept. 2, 1939, in Russia, she married Louis F. Oldiges, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2006.
She is survived by her children, Elaine (James) Simons of Sidney, John Oldiges of Minster and Donna (John) Cornwell of Minster; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
David C. Royse, 20, of Celina, died on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima, where he had been hospitalized since a drowning incident at the Eastview Park pond in Celina on May 29.
He was born on Aug. 13, 1991, in St. Marys, to Lori Studer, who survives in Celina, and Steven Royse, who survives in Vandalia.
Ervin E. “Ed” Rohm 88, of Wapakoneta, died at 8:30 p.m. June 6, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
He was born on Jan. 22, 1924, in Vanderbilt, Pa., to Curly E. and Ada (Blair) Rohm, and they preceded him in death.
In 1948, he married Ardath Moyer, and she preceded him in death on May 12.

ST. MARYS — Through the cooperation of local churches, St. Marys students have an opportunity this summer to learn about fishing while enjoying a morning of activities at Grand Lake St. Marys through a series of three workshops.
Fishing, Fun and Fellowship will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 and Aug. 15 at the East Bank Road shelter house No. 1 at Grand Lake St. Marys. Organizer Kara Birt said the event will be open to school-aged children in the St. Marys City School District.
CELINA — Emergency response crews responded to the western shore of Grand Lake St. Marys, near the lighthouse in Celina in response to calls of suspicious activity concerning an adult and a child.
According to a news release from the Celina Police Department, initially the caller advised a subject had placed a child on the shoreline, but a short time later reported that the child had been placed in the water.
ST. MARYS — The Auglaize County dog warden is seeking the public's help for any tips leading to information regarding the drowning death of a caged dog in Grand Lake St. Marys.
"We will need help from the community and the citizens," Dog Warden Russ Bailey told The Evening Leader. "We have some people of interest, I am not calling them suspects at this time."
NEW BREMEN — Herb Boerger says there is no secret to living to 100 years old — one must take it day by day.
“To be 100 years old, I don’t have any big secret,” Boerger said. “I just get up in the morning and say, ‘The Lord let me live today.’ I try to do what’s right to all my friends and neighbors and thank the Lord for every day.”
ST. MARYS — An investigation remains ongoing into determining who is responsible for a caged dog that was found Saturday drowned in Grand Lake St. Marys.
Grand Lake St. Marys Park Manager Brian Miller said his office received a phone call from the Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office reporting a dog had been found drowned inside a cage near Rustic Haven. He declined comment as to the breed of the dog and if it had any identification.
