NEW KNOXVILLE — In honor of the village’s 175th anniversary, a new record of the history of New Knoxville has been created.
A timeline, now on display in the village administration building, tracks the history of the village of New Knoxville, with a focus on the past 25 years.
ST. MARYS — The new director of the department tasked with helping to heal Grand Lake St. Marys has first-hand experience with the issues surrounding the waterway.
Gov. John Kasich appointed current Ohio Department of Agriculture Director Jim Zehringer to serve as the new director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Zehringer, who previously served in the Ohio House, now leads a department that will be on the front lines in developing ways to restore the water quality of Grand Lake St. Marys.
Minster's deep run into the football playoffs will delay the start of the season for Mike Lee and the Minster boys basketball team for a second straight season.
Minster's game against Sidney Lehman Catholic scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2 will be made up on date to be determined. The game at Anna on Saturday, Dec. 3, has been moved to Saturday, Jan. 21.
Elbert Baird, 88, of St. Marys, died ON Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical in Lima.
Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
Mary Belle Norris, 97, of Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choice, St. Marys, died at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011.
She was born on Dec. 29, 1913, in Kosciusko County, Ind., to James and Florence Stackhouse, and they preceded her in death.
On Oct. 18, 1932, she married Earl E. Norris, and he preceded her in death on July 22, 1992.
She is survived by her daughter, Betty (James) Phillips of Celina; two grandsons; six great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by eight brothers.
Sheila A. Larck, 47, of St. Marys, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011.
She was born on Jan. 2, 1964, in South Charleston, W.Va., the daughter of Delmar Ray and Reba (Williams) Larck, and her mother survives her. Her father preceded her in death.
She is also survived by a daughter, Sara Larck; a son, Steven Larck; a sister, Kelly Larck; a brother, Jeff Larck; two grandchildren, Kagan and Rhylon Larck.
She was preceded in death by a son, Delmar Ray Wilson.

MINSTER — Minster knows what it must improve upon from its Week 4 26-17 loss to the Flyers when it takes on Marion Local again on Saturday in a regional final game.
Minster has to contain the Marion Local running game better than it did nine weeks ago. Marion Local ran for 196 yards in that one, the most the Wildcat defense has surrendered all season.
St. Marys basketball season tickets are now available.
The reserved section for boys basketball games will be 250 seats, with all of those seats being located in the center section, starting with Row B going up to Row Z.
Reserved seats are $50 for boys basketball, and previous season ticket holders receive priority in regards to seat selection until Nov. 18.
A Golden Rider ticket is $40, the Activity Pass is $40. A Student winter sports pass is $25 and an adult winter sports pass is $50.
Deadline for season tickets is Dec. 2.
The New Bremen Girls Basketball Tip-Off Tournament will feature varsity and junior varsity games on Friday, Nov. 25 and Saturday, Nov. 26 to start the girls basketball season.
On Friday in varsity action, Anna will play New Knoxville at 6:30 p.m. Van Buren will take on New Bremen 20 minutes following the conclusion of the first game.
On Saturday, Nov. 26, the varsity consolation game will be played at 6:30 p.m. between the losers of Friday night's games.
The championship game will be played 20 minutes following the consolation game.
Patricia “Mama Bear” E. Deubler, 60, of 819 ½ Columbia St., St. Marys, died at 3:59 a.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
She was born on April 20, 1951, in Middleville, Mich., to Leo and Beulah (Murray) Oliver, and they preceded her in death.
On June 17, 1972, in Lima, she married Richard E. Deubler II, and he survives her.
