Lola Jean “Jeanie” Miller, 80, of Wapakoneta, died at 4 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1931, in Auglaize County, the daughter of Fred and Erma (Miller) Nuss, and they preceded her in death.
On Sept. 12, 1948, she married Robert L. “Bob” Miller, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2002.
Kathryn J. Klaus, 81, of Spencerville, formerly of Venedocia, died at 9:05 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
She was born on Aug. 5, 1930, in Dayton, to Charles and Margaret Dyke Mullen, and they preceded her in death.
On Nov. 27, 1952, she married Joseph G. Klaus, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1999.
She is survived by three daughters, Debbie (Kenny) Armstrong of Spencerville, Barbara (Bob) Delgado of Ohio City and Colleen Klaus of Spencerville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law.
Harry Mike Gibson, 68, of Celina, died at 8:55 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice.
He was born on June 9, 1943, to Glen Gibson and Dorothy Tracy, and they preceded him in death.
On Dec. 21, 2963, he married Kay Grunden, and she survives him.
He is also survived by two sons, Larry Michael (Donna) Gibson of Rockford and Donny J. Gibson of Willshire; a brother; two sisters; several nieces and nephews; three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Virgil Stienecker, 89, of St. Marys, died on Sunday, Dec. 11, 2011, at Otterbein – St. Marys.
Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
The Rev. Roger D. Perl, 75, of Tiffin, died on Wednesday evening, Dec. 7, 2011, at St. Francis Home.
He was born on July 14, 1936, in Le Mars, Iowa, to John and Elizabeth (Graupe) Perl, and they preceded him in death.
On June 14, 1958, at Zion United Church of Christ in Fireside, he married Alice “Jeanie” Ziegler, and she survives him.
He is survived by two daughters, Amy (Andrew) Kuhn of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Emily Perl of Baltimore, Md.; a brother; a sister; two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
ST. MARYS — A local retirement community rolled out its holiday decorations this weekend for its annual holiday open house.
MINSTER — Santa arrived in style on a fire truck Saturday afternoon for his annual visit with area children at the gazebo in Minster Machine Centennial Park.
“I think the thing the kids really like is how Santa comes in on the fire truck,” Francis J. Stallo Memorial Library Branch Supervisor Becky Prenger said.
She added despite the construction downtown, Santa was able to find his way to the park.
“Santa had to take an alternate route this year, but he still found us,” she said.

For a few minutes midway through the second quarter everything St. Henry tossed at the basket seemed to splash through the net.
That big second quarter surge lifted the Redskins to a 73-57 win over the St. Marys boys basketball team on Friday night at Murotech Court in St. Marys.
NEW BREMEN — Lima Central Catholic defeated New Bremen 66-40 on Friday night behind 18 points from Billy Taflinger.
Taflinger finished with 18 points for LCC, while Ty O’Connor scored 11. Bruce Hodges and Tre'on Johnson added 8 apiece.
