Irvine Triplett, 82, of Pippa Passes, Ky., passed away on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2011, at the VA Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va.
He was born on Oct. 28, 1929, in Hollybush, to Sylvester Triplett and Clarinda Jacobs Triplett.
Pamela Sue Fink, 61, of 607 Beech St., St. Marys, died at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on April 11, 1950, in Mercer County, to Donald and Ruth (Kelley) Fink, and her father preceded her in death. Her mother survives her in St. Marys.

Kenton 61, St. Marys 46
KENTON — The Kenton Wildcats jumped out to a 10-point halftime lead and went on to defeat the St. Marys girls basketball team, 61-46, on Thursday night. Kelly Heitkamp, Ashleigh Falk and Molly Albert scored 10 points apiece to lead the Roughriders. St. Marys fell to 0-5 on the season and 0-2 in the Western Buckeye League. The Riders host Sidney Lehman Catholic next Thursday at 6 p.m. Kenton improved to 3-1 on the season and 1-1 in the WBL.
10 Years Ago This Week – 2001
A decade ago this week, the St. Marys Lady Roughriders locked horns with the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans in a battle of unbeatens as far as the Western Buckeye League was concerned.
Marcus Reineke, Cedarville
Reineke, a Cedarville freshman and New Knoxville grad, scored seven points, grabbed a rebound and dished out an assist in Cedarville’s 83-68 loss to Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday in Owensboro, Kentucky. Reineke has played in all nine Yellow Jacket games and is averaging 7.1 points per game with a 51.7 percent shooting percentage from beyond the three-point arc (15-of-29).Cedarville is 6-3 on the season and will be at Southern Indiana on Saturday in Evansville.

WAPAKONETA — A St. Marys optometrist was sentenced to more than a year in prison after being convicted in October of a felony sex crime.
Auglaize County Common Pleas Judge Frederick Pepple sentenced Douglas J. Wine to 15 months in prison on one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, during a hearing Wednesday afternoon. Wine was convicted of the charge in October after a jury trial. Jurors found Wine not guilty of sexual battery and rape, a first-degree felony, regarding an incident that involved a Florida woman at his St. Marys home in 2009.
NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen Board of Education held a community meeting Wednesday night to update residents on the possible building project.
The meeting was the second the board has had with the community to receive feedback on building a new elementary school. After the first community meeting, board members found that a majority of attendees were in favor of moving forward with a new building. Board of Education President Keith Bornhorst said the second meeting was held to update the community on the status of the project, which will be on the March ballot.

WAPAKONETA — Douglas J. Wine was sentenced to 15 months in prison by Auglaize County Common Pleas Judge Frederick Pepple on one count of gross sexual imposition, a fourth-degree felony, during his sentencing hearing today. Wine also was ordered to pay a $5,000 fine. He faced a maximum of 18 months in prison. During the hearing, attorneys for Wine noted they planned to file an appeal in the case.
NEW KNOXVILLE — New Knoxville Village Councilors met Tuesday night to hear an update from the village administrator and pass a list of ordinances.
In his report to the board, Village Administrator Rex Katterheinrich updated councilors on an excavation project.
