Marian Albers Holthaus, 83, of Wapakoneta, died at 9:47 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012, at Auglaize Acres.
She was born on Nov. 8, 1928, in Anna, the daughter of Anthony and Helen (Raterman) Albers, and they preceded her in death.
On Aug. 19, 1950, she married Norbert C. Holthaus, and he survives in Wapakoneta.
Eva Bigelow–Carver, 82, formerly of 524 Locust St., St. Marys, died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on July 15, 1929, in Langley, Ark., to Lon and Lenora (Cowart) Brown, and they preceded her in death.
WAPAKONETA — Plans for spending Homeland Security grant money remain on hold as members of the Auglaize County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) determine the best use.
“We are holding some funds,” Auglaize County Emergency Management Agency Director Troy Anderson said. “Either we will attempt to go back at it or determine a new way to spend it.”
ST. MARYS — A Lima-based artist will be exhibiting his sculptures at a local gallery, which opens this evening.
Brent R. Cress, of Lima, will be showcasing his original works at Arts Place’s Collective Center as part of the exhibit “Emergence,” which opens during an artist reception/open house tonight.
“The open house will be from 7 to 9 p.m.,” Center Director Hope McKnight said.
“It will be a wine and cheese reception, and the artist will be there.”

There will be a weigh in for the Grand Health Challenge from 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Friday at Wapak Medical Center.

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys Community Public Library Board of Trustees swore in a returning member and elected its president, vice president and secretary at its regular meeting Wednesday afternoon.
Linda Schloemer was sworn in by Ed Pierce and will be returning to her role as vice president of the board. Bill Angel will serve another term as president, and Ruth Ramsey will serve another term as secretary. Board members also passed a motion to reappoint Fiscal Officer Robert Maurer.
ST. MARYS — A local police officer met with area seniors to inform them about the importance of personal safety.
St. Marys Police Sgt. Jake Sutton put on a safety program for senior citizens at the Auglaize County Council on Aging Wednesday morning, where he stressed the seniors should be aware of their surroundings, take certain precautions and have an emergency plan in place.
