5:10 p.m. — Multiple national media outlets are reporting voters in New Jersey will be given an extension to submit e-mail ballots until Friday because of the widespread damage from Superstorm Sandy.
7:10 p.m. — CNN is reporting Mitt Romney has won Kentucky, Barack Obama has won Vermont.
7:30 p.m. — Polls have closed in Ohio, North Carolina and West Virginia.
NEW BREMEN — After winning NBC’s “Phenomenon,” some area residents may be familiar with Mike Super, the first magician to win a live magic competition on primetime network television.
The magician, who has been named Entertainer of the Year and Best Performing Artist of the Year, has also performed for Ellen DeGeneres, Jay Leno and Regis Philbin, among others, and will now travel to New Bremen for a local show.
ST. MARYS — Motorists along South Street in the city of St. Marys will soon have one less traffic signal to content with in the coming weeks.
City engineers are in the first stages of removing the traffic signal at the intersection of South and Front streets in St. Marys. Starting on Wednesday, the signal will go into flash mode — the signal will flash to traffic on South Street and will be a red light to traffic on Front Street.
CELINA — For her dedication to Grand Lake St. Marys and to the Lake Improvement Association (LIA), Gayle Meyer was honored with the Guardian of the Lake Award Saturday morning at the group’s monthly meeting.
MINSTER — The Minster Historical Society celebrated the 100th birthday of two Fourth Street buildings Saturday with a new program.
The first installment of “A Look at Yesterday in Minster” focused on the Kramer Building and the Crescent Theater, both of which were built in 1912. Minster Historical Museum Curator Mary Oldiges said members of the historical society, which encourages the preservation of the older buildings in Minster, researched the history of the two downtown buildings.
Marilyn A. Kramer, 75, of 310 Jill Ave., Celina, died on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on Sept. 8, 1937, in Coldwater, to Herman and Frederica (Boeke) Quinter, and they preceded her in death.
On July 25, 1959, she married Werner Kramer, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2008.
Herbert “Herb” J. Boerger, 100, of McCartyville, died at 5:50 a.m. Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Elmwood of New Bremen.
He was born on June 5, 1912, in Fort Loramie, to Frank and Emma (Ernst) Boerger, and they preceded him in death.
On Feb. 4, 1941, in Minster, he married Alma Schmiesing, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 2, 2001.
