NEW BREMEN — For New Bremen resident Jacki Love, putting together memorials for local servicemen and women really is a labor of love.
Love started putting organizing different ways to recognize those who are serving in the armed forces a few years ago, and she recently has set up a holiday recognition for them in the form of a Christmas tree, which will be up through the holidays.
MINSTER — During his time serving in Iraq, SPC Patrick Minnich received calendars from his wife full with acts of kindness she had encountered from the community.
NEW KNOXVILLE — Raylee Smith, Bobby Fu, Carly and Haley Fledderjohann and Morgan Leffel rounded out the top three performances in the Spanish Club Talent Show Thursday afternoon, as Rangers showed off a slew of talents for the annual event.
Dana Miles kicked off this year’s event, singing “Everyone Has a Song” while playing the bells.
“Everyone has a song,” Dana sang. “No one can steal it, for it is yours.”
Mary Dorothy “Pat” Buckloh Sink, 82, of Findlay, died at 9:20 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2011, at her residence.
She was born on March 17, 1929, in New Bremen, to the late Frank and Marie (Dicke) Buckloh.
She graduated from New Bremen High School and earned an associate’s degree from Bowling Green State University.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville boys basketball team’s 20-point loss to Anna simmered in the Rangers players’ minds for 12 days.
“It’s been a long week and a half since we got beat over at Anna pretty soundly,” New Knoxville head coach Kort Fledderjohann said.
MINSTER — Minster got its first win of the season on Thursday night, defeating Lehman 64-53.
Minster started the second quarter on a 10-0 run thanks to four baskets by Ethan Wolf. Wolf finished with 16 points for Minster, while Adam Niemeyer scored 14 and Poeppelman added 13.
“(Wolf is) just a sophomore, but with a lack of physical presence that we have in terms of depth, we need that from him and hopefully this is a confidence builder for him," Lee said.

ST. MARYS — Local students listened to a recent graduate about the dangers of texting while driving during their health classes on Wednesday.
Shelby Core, a 2011 graduate of St. Marys Memorial High School, visited the students in Monica VanderHorst’s health classes on Wednesday to discuss texting while driving, a topic she chose to cover during an advocacy project in one of her classes at Ohio Northern University.
