ELIDA — The Minster duo of Kayla Wuebker and Bridget Geiger combined to outscore the entire Elida team and the Wildcats won the Vicki Mauk Holiday Invitational with a 71-29 victory on Thursday night.
“It’s a tournament we enjoy. It’s over the holidays,” said Minster head coach Nann Stechschulte. “It’s nice to just come away with two wins.”
Minster improved to 5-2 on the season.

CELINA — Area residents can ring in the new year Saturday night while helping benefit Grand Lake St. Marys.
Romer’s Catering will again host its Save the Waves New Year’s Eve Fundraiser Saturday night, and a portion of each ticket will be donated to the Lake Restoration Commission.
Romer’s Catering Director of Sales and Marketing Angela Schmitz said the success of last year’s event prompted its continuation this year.
NEW BREMEN — For fans of the History Channel’s popular antique show, “American Pickers,” it’s no secret that one of the show’s stars has a soft spot for bicycles, but what may not be so known is when the two pickers find some sort of cycle, they turn to a local museum for some help.
“American Pickers,” which runs new episodes at 9 p.m. on Monday, follows Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz as they “pick” barns, basements, junkyards and more searching for antiques across America.
Rebecca Peggs, 69, of 137 Margo Lane, Celina, died on Sunday, Dec. 25, 2011, at her residence.
She was born in Lima, to Gene and Martha (Riker) Finch, and they preceded her in death.
On Jan. 12, 1972, she married Larry L. Peggs, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 21.
She is survived by her three stepchildren, Deb and Greg Joseph of Cridersville, Diana McVicker of Lima and Keith and Charlotte Peggs of Chickasaw; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; a sister.
Ermon Eldon Huston Sr., 82, of Mendon, died at 4:18 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born on April 12, 1929, in Mercer County, to George Elmer and Della Beatrice (Gause) Huston.
On Feb. 14, 1997, he married Cindy Jones, and she survives him.
Kay I. Guyer, 57, formerly of 00855 Noble Road, St. Marys, died at 7:27 p.m. Friday, Dec. 23, 2011, at St. Marys Living Center.
She was born on July 5, 1954, in Huntingdon, Pa., to J. Ralph and Irene (Rutherford) Bowser, and they preceded her in death.
She is survived by a son, Charles Guyer of Huntingdon, Pa.; two grandsons.
Private family services will be held. Burial will take place in Huntingdon, Pa.
