75 years ago: School started for pupils in St. Marys.
The Ethiopian Clowns defeated the St. Marys Eagles 8 to 3 at Memorial Field in front of a large crowd.
ST. MARYS — When Jaclyn Smith graduates from St. Marys Memorial High School in 2013, she is going to miss her classmates and all of the enjoyable activities she has participated in as a St. Marys student.
“The small group of classmates I grew up with and that made me the person I am,” Smith said of what she will miss after graduation. “I’m going to miss all of the fun high school activities that go on.”
NEW KNOXVILLE — Band, choir and theater students at New Knoxville Local School are being recognized with a wall displaying their accomplishments.
The performing arts wall, which is located near the conference rooms, has been painted red and gray and features pictures from past theater performances and awards for the band and choir.
Nancy Fiegel said the idea for the wall spurred from a talk she had with a parent.
Robert E. Weaver, 83, of 03838 Ohio 119, Minster, died at 12:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Hospice of Dayton.
He was born on Sept. 6, 1929, to Albert and Henrietta (Vondenhuevel) Weaver, and they preceded him in death.
On June 28, 1952, in Fort Loramie, he married Jeanette “Sis” Albers, and she survives in Minster.
Harold “Hap” Adams, 82, of 6457 Hasis Road, Celina, died at 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on April 23, 1930, in Van Wert, to Marion and Mabel (Hook) Adams, and they preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Delilah (Andrews) Adams of Celina; a sister.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Misty Adams.
He served his country in the U.S. Army.
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Ohio City.
Forrest F. Nedderman, 102, of the New Bremen/St. Marys area, died at 9:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Otterbein Community of St. Marys.
He was born on Jan. 6, 1910, northwest of New Bremen, the son of William and Florentina (Witte) Nedderman, and they preceded him in death.
On March 29, 1932, he married Marie Wiehe, and she preceded him in death on March 16, 1957. In 1960, he married Catherine (Fellabaum) Hoyer, and she preceded him in death in 1985.

ST. MARYS — Elida escaped from a three point deficit at match point in a deciding fifth game and rallied to beat St. Marys 25-15, 23-25, 25-20, 16-25, 18-16, on Thursday night at Memorial High School’s Murotech Court.
A young St. Marys volleyball team still lacks experience closing out a match, head coach Tricia Rosenbeck said after the loss. St. Marys had a pair of attacking errors that helped Elida rally.
ST. MARYS — For more than 10 years, third-grade students in the St. Marys area have been receiving a new book that is theirs to keep forever.
St. Marys Rotary Club President Robbie Burke and Rotary Dictionary Chair Jim Harris visited local third-grade students for their annual “Rotary Dictionary Day” on Thursday.
