NEW BREMEN — During their meeting Tuesday evening, New Bremen Village Councilors discussed an option that would help with property maintenance within their village.
New Bremen Mayor Jeff Pape noted he spoke with the mayor of Jackson Center and the topic of property maintenance came up. Jackson Center’s mayor noted his village uses NIC — or National Inspection Corporation — out of Dayton for its property maintenance enforcement.
ST. MARYS — The newest addition to the St. Marys restaurant portfolio opened its doors today.
“It’s very exciting,” Beer Barrel owner John Heaphy said inside his newest location in St. Marys. “I have a lot of friends from here who have been coming to Lima for years.”

ST. MARYS — One in four people have experienced some form of trauma, says Aaron Kuhn of Counseling & Consulting Services Inc.
“Trauma is existent in this world,” he said. “If you’ve been alive long enough, you’ve likely experienced some sort of trauma.”
Kuhn, the second of four motivational speakers in the Grand Health Challenge lineup, spoke Monday night to area residents about trauma and how to deal with it. Family of origin, he said, is where people grow up.
ST. MARYS — A Japanese resident who played a large role in a cultural exchange with the city of St. Marys received honorary citizenship Monday night.
St. Marys Mayor Patrick McGowan bestowed honorary citizenship to Junko Tagawa during Monday night’s St. Marys City Council meeting. Tagawa has assisted with the sister city program with Awaji City in a variety of capacities since living in St. Marys.

Harold E. Oda, 85, of Minster, died at 12:55 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, 2012, in Minster.
He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Miami County, to Otto and Elsie (Fessler) Oda, and they preceded him in death.
He married Phyllis (Fronda) Oda, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 17, 2011.
He is survived by his daughters, Kathy Oda, Diane (Doug) McGlaughlin and Alice Lawrence, all of Minster; a daughter-in-law; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Harold B. Oda; three siblings.
Margaret Mary Clementz Dickman, 88, of Cridersville, died at 2:42 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, at Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on July 2, 1923, in Kalida, to Frank and Mary Miller Wehri, and they preceded her in death.
On July 31, 1946, she married Eugene Clementz, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 23, 1985. On Dec. 6, 1986, she married Ferd Dickman, and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1992. On Dec. 5, 2004, she married Roman Eickholt Sr., and he survives her.
Colista Kitchen, 68, of 16244 State Route 66, St. Marys, died suddenly at 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, 2012, in the emergency department of Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on Jan. 21, 1944, in Olive Hill, Ky., the daughter of James and Evelyn (Carpenter) Middleton, and they preceded her in death.
On March 28, 1964, in Olive Hill, Ky., she married Charles Gary, and he survives at the residence.
