Illegal Dumping Becoming Serious Issue

ST. MARYS — City officials are in the process of developing policies to help curb illegal dumping and other unsanctioned activities at the former landfill.

In the past few weeks, the city has dealt with a number of issues at the facility ranging from illegal dumping to nonresidents taking mulch and other materials from the location. St. Marys Safety-Service Director Greg Foxhoven said the issues are starting to become a serious problem.

Steven W. Quigg, 54

September 12, 2014

Steven W. Quigg, 54, of Rockford, and formerly of Toledo, passed away at 2:10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at the Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.

He was born on Aug. 14, 1960, in Toledo, to William and Georgia (Anderson)  Quigg.

He is survived by his father, William  Quigg,  of Green Valley, Ariz., a brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Connie (Heckler)  Quigg  of Rockford, sisters and brothers-in-law Becky and Bob of Napoleon, Kelly of Holland and several nieces and nephews.

Sept. 13: The third annual Harvestfest will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. today at the Auglaize County Fairgrounds east gate entrance.

The St. Marys Farmers Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today next to Dave's BBQ on Celina Road.

Kids of all ages are invited to the New Knoxville Library from 11 a.m. to noon today to watch classic cartoons.

Zombiefest will take place from 3 p.m. to midnight today at the second shelterhouse along East Bank Road in St. Marys.

Sept. 11: Books, Babies & More will be held at 10:30 a.m. today (newborn-36 mos.) and their caregivers at the St. Marys Community Public Library.

A storytime will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the New Bremen Public Library.

Preschool Storytime will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the New Knoxville Library. Kids ages 3, 4 & 5 (not yet in Kindergarten) are welcome.

Kids of all ages are welcome to stop in at New Knoxville Library from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. today for a craft. Come in and make your own pencil holder.

Dorothy (Cross) Diltz Kohler, 94

Dorothy (Cross) Diltz Kohler, 94, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Van Wert Manor in Van Wert.

She was born on July 5, 1920, in Delphos to Daniel and Opal (Carmean) Cross, both of whom preceded her in death.

She was united in marriage to Gerald Dilt, who preceded her in death.

She then married Clarence Kohler, and he also preceded her in death.

Don F. Isern, 89

September 11, 2014

Don F. Isern, 89, of Troy, passed away at 4:17 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

He was born in New Bremen, on Nov. 14, 1924, to the late Homer C. and Beata (Klanke) Isern.

He was married to Miriam K. Mouch, and she preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 2000.

Don is survived by his son, Charles E. Isern of Miamisburg; his daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Fred Huegel of Crofton, Md.; four grandchildren, Jonathan, Margaret, Angela and Catherine; and two great grandchildren, Ayden and Reid.

Hunter Jordan Schroer, 18

Hunter Jordan Schroer, 18, passed away at his home on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. He was born in 1995 in Kettering, to his parents, Cory Lynn Schroer of Orlando, Fla., and Rhonda Michelle Schroer of Beavercreek, both of whom survive.

He is also survived by his sister, Megan Glackin of Beavercreek, maternal grandparents Don (Linda) Massengale of Beavercreek, paternal grandparents Steve (Linda) Schroer of New Bremen and many extended family members and friends.
