COLUMBUS — The Minster girls 4-by-400 meter relay team finished off the state track meet with an exciting race to the finish line.
The Minster 1600 meter relay team’s senior anchor Olivia Enneking stormed near the front of the pack on the final lap and got to within half a stride of first-place Archbold for the final 100 meters.
AKRON — Brittany Nero pulled an inside 1-0 pitch down the left field line and pinch runner Morgan Orlowski scampered across home plate in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Cuyahoga Heights a 2-1 walk-off win and its first-ever state title to end the Minster Wildcats’ dream of a Division IV state championship on Saturday.
“It was a great game, the way a state championship should be,” Cuyahoga Heights head coach Christy Zawadzki said.
Nadine Sanders, 66, of 03634 Glynwood Road in St. Marys, died at 12:38 p.m. Friday, June 6, 2014, at IU-Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Ind.
She was born on Feb. 29, 1948, in Martin, Ky., to Aaron and Elizabeth “Betty” (Hicks) Tuttle.
On Nov. 21, 1985, in St. Marys, she married Ralph E. Sanders, who survives.
CELINA — An Indiana man died as a result of a collision on U.S. 33 Saturday morning.
According a report from the Mercer County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a 911 call at 11:47 a.m. Saturday reporting a two-vehicle collision along U.S. 33, between Palmer Road and U.S. 127. Adam Hamilton,26, of Fort Wayne, Ind., was driving westbound on U.S. 33 in a 2013 Nissan. Joshua Angel, 35, Fort Wayne, Ind., was driving eastbound on U.S. 33 in a 2003 Volvo.
ST. MARYS — After 35 years of teaching, 25 of them for the St. Marys City School district, special education teacher Bill Widman has spent his last day in the classroom.
The Minster Wildcats have won 4-3 in 10 innings. They advance to Saturday's Division IV state title game. Minster will take on Cuyahoga Heights at 4 p.m. at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
June 7: The St. Marys Kiwanis Club's annual track meet will be held at the high school track today. Registration forms should be turned in at 8:45 a.m. and the meet will start at 9 a.m.

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys boys 4-by-200 meter relay team went into last Saturday’s Division II regional track meet at Welcome Stadium with one goal in mind: break the school record time.
A trip to Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium this week was simply a byproduct. A rather rewarding byproduct.
The Rider quartet of senior Will Walter, junior Cam Swanson, sophomore Austin Tester and freshman Eric Spicer will run in the preliminaries on Friday at 2:40 p.m. The top eight teams will advance to Saturday’s final at 1:25 p.m.
CELINA — Two Celina men were arrested on Wednesday on a slew of drug charges involving heroin.
At approximately 3:15 p.m. Wednesday, an Ohio Adult parole officer requested assistance checking on a parolee and ensuring his compliance with parole orders. When officers arrived at the residence, violations were observed. Officers then applied for a received a search warrant for the residence located at 751 Deford Street, Lot No. 100, Celina.

Summer Reading favorite, Comedy Juggler Matt Jergens, will perform at the New Knoxville Library at 1 p.m. today. Please bring a chair. The show will be outside if the weather permits. All ages are welcome.
