CELINA — Grand Lake Mariners head coach Mike Goldschmidt says his team understands the sense of urgency needed as it looks to climb out of its last-place positioning and into a Great Lakes Summer College League playoff spot with a late-summer charge.
After a stretch of six losses in seven games and a dwindling number of games to make up the deficit in the standings, Grand Lake hopes its late two-out magic on Monday night is the start of something.

ST. HENRY — There’s no better example of just how experienced and tourney-tested the Minster ACME baseball team is this summer as when the Wildcats used a pair of pitchers who started the state semifinal and state championship games this spring to finish off the Coldwater Cavaliers in the district championship on Friday night.
Few summer baseball teams have this sort of arsenal on the mound.
ST. HENRY — Austin Knapke’s pitching and some timely hits have Minster in prime position for a state ACME tournament berth.
Ryan Hoying hit a two-run home run and Knapke frustrated Cavalier batters for six innings in the Wildcats’ 3-1 win over Coldwater in the first game of the ACME district championship series on Thursday night.
Knapke took a shutout into the seventh inning. He stranded a Coldwater runner at third base in the first, fourth and sixth innings. He gave up one run on five hits, striking out three and walking three.

ST. HENRY — Minster wanted to do more than just give itself a puncher’s chance at a district ACME title. By knocking Wapakoneta out of the tournament in one game instead of two, the Wildcats will be rested and ready when they square off with Coldwater on Thursday.
Minster’s sudden three-run fifth inning proved to be the difference in a 3-2 win over Wapakoneta in an ACME district semifinal game at St. Henry on Tuesday night.
