Ohio State QB J.T. Barrett after his 6 TD passes against Kent State in a 66-0 victory for the Buckeyes on Saturday.

ST. MARYS — The fourth quarter started so promising for the St. Marys football team, but it was Kenton that dominated the final 10 minutes of what had been a Western Buckeye League defensive struggle.
The Roughriders held Kenton’s five-wide spread attack in check for more than three quarters and the Roughrider offense drove the field to give St. Marys a brief one-point early fourth-quarter lead, but a barrage of three touchdowns in less than four minutes lifted Kenton to a 26-7 win.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — The momentum from St. Marys’ Week 1 win over Sidney simply didn’t carry over into Week 2.
A two score deficit proved to be too much to overcome for the St. Marys football team in the fourth quarter after play resumed on Saturday afternoon. Shawnee handed the Roughriders a 34-20 loss in a Western Buckeye League opener.

ST. MARYS — The St. Marys football team gathered on the home sideline, their helmets held high from outstretched arms. They sang at the top of their lungs after slaying a 21-game losing streak with a 71-21 dismantling of the Sidney Yellow Jackets.
For most of the players it was the first time they’d ever celebrated a varsity football win. For Doug Frye, the moment encapsulated why he returned to the home sideline at Skip Baughman Stadium to coach the Roughriders.
FT. LORAMIE – Last season the Minster Wildcats football team suffered a tough loss to the Ft. Loramie Redskins, but Friday night the Wildcats retaliated and shutout the Redskins 34-0, keyed by 283 yards through the air.
“The kids were excited tonight because they put in a lot of work,” Minster head coach Geron Stokes said. “They were excited for this game. We were led tonight by a great group of nine seniors that really care about what we are doing. It is fun but we have a long way to go.”
