Week 3's high school football scores from around the area and Ohio:
No one would ever call Kenton’s offense an afterthought, but while the Wildcats’ five-wide no-hold’s barred passing attack is still one of the country’s most prolific it’s the defense that has perhaps been most impressive through two weeks of the 2013 season.
Kenton’s defense held defending Division V state champion Coldwater to two points in the season opener. A week later, they shut out Wapakoneta for three quarters before giving up two fourth-quarter touchdowns when the game was already decided in a 52-16 rout.

LIMA — The St. Marys girls soccer team went on the road twice for key Western Buckeye League matches in the Lima area and twice used the same formula to emerge with wins: get up early and then hold on.
The Roughriders jumped out to a two-goal halftime lead on Bath in the first-half torrential rain and held on as the Wildkittens a late goal and peppered the goal with shots in the final two minutes. St. Marys’ 2-1 win is its fourth straight win.

Like the match, the St. Marys boys soccer team had its plans of rolling to a third Western Buckeye League win interrupted, but only for a little while.
A lightning delay and and an early deficit didn’t stop St. Marys from staying perfect in the WBL.
The Roughriders overcame stiff resistence from the Elida Bulldogs to score three second half goals — two of them via penalty kicks — to pull away for a 4-2 win on Tuesday in a game that was delayed about a half hour with 5:05 left in the first half.
10 Years Ago This Week – 2003
Ten years ago this week in 2003, the St. Marys volleyball team moved to 4-5 on the season with a three-game victory over the 8-1 Ottawa Glandorf Titans.
The win bumped the Roughriders to 2-1 in league play, while it was the Titans first loss in WBL action.

ST. MARYS — Carter Bowman had another putt to tie the St. Marys golf program’s nine-hole record and the Roughrider boys golf team had little trouble disposing of the Defiance Bulldogs 163-178 in Western Buckeye League golf action at Northmoor on Monday evening.
Bowman fired a medalist three-under par on the par 36 course. Twice this season the Roughrider junior has shot 33s with a putt on his ninth hole to tie the school record 32 shared by Mark Bergman and Drew Paulus on the par 35 front nine at Northmoor.
