Bath holds off St. Marys 27-21 in Garland's first win

ST. MARYS — Bath head coach Bill Garland and his Wildcats broke through with their first win, a  27-21 victory over St. Marys at Skip Baughman Stadium on a picturesque homecoming Friday night.

The team waited five weeks to taste victory.  Garland's been paying his dues for 30 years as an assistant coach, becoming a fixture in the program before he ever became its head coach.

WAPAKONETA — Faced with a 4th-and-32, the Wapakoneta Redskins needed a miracle to keep their drive and Homecoming victory hopes alive, and they got one.

On the long fourth down conversion, Wapak senior running back Zach Schmerge made a 42-yard catch and run on a screen pass from quarterback Kodi Morgan, weaving his way through Celina defenders behind a wall of Wapak offensive linemen.
