NEW BREMEN — New Bremen’s Clay Bertke went from flirtling with a perfect game against the St. Marys baseball team to being in danger of losing the lead in the top of the sixth inning with the tying runs in scoring position and nobody out.
But Bertke overpowered the next three Roughrider hitters to maintain his shutout and steer the Cardinals to a 2-0 win over St. Marys on a blustery Monday night.

NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Rangers rallied back from a five-run deficit and then won the game on a bases loaded single by Wes Meyer in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 8-7 victory over the Fairlawn Jets Monday at New Knoxville.
“The guys never gave up in that fifth inning,” Rangers head coach Nick Schroer said. “The kids backed each other up and they never quit until the end. The guys never stop during the seven innings of play.”
