MINSTER — Make it four in a row.
Minster's mid-season turnaround kept going with a fourth straight win to go above .500 just two weeks after starting the season 1-4.
Minster defeated Parkway 48-34 in a Midwest Athletic Conference match-up on Friday night.
“It was a game that was a low-scoring, pretty much defensive struggle, and not a whole lot of flow to the game, which you except in league action,” said Minster head coach Mike Lee, who was pleased with his team’s defensive effort throughout the game.
BATH TOWNSHIP — It was possible to pinpoint the exact second when things fell apart for the St. Marys Roughriders on Friday night at Bath.
J.D. Meyer’s late third-quarter exit with four fouls was the fracture point. Without him on the floor, a spirited Western Buckeye League match-up with the Wildcats turned one-sided.
A tied game turned into a double-digit lead for the Wildcats as Meyer sat on the bench and Bath ran away with a 63-51 Western Buckeye League win on Friday night.
NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Bremen Cardinals were able to stay one step ahead of New Knoxville the whole night to defeat the Rangers 50-42 Friday in a MAC Contest at New Knoxville.
“We just stayed in front of people on defense,” Cardinals head coach Adam Dougherty said. “We stayed in our gap and followed our rules and if we would have done that all night it might have been a different kind of game.
NEW BREMEN — A big third quarter was just what the New Knoxville Lady Rangers basketball team needed Thursday night. The Rangers hit 7 of 10 shots from the field and went on to defeat the New Bremen Cardinals 45-25 in a MAC contest at New Bremen.
ROCKFORD — The Minster girls basketball team won its seventh straight game, pummeling Parkway 64-22 in a Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Thursday night.
Minster also held an opponent under 30 points for the fifth straight game.
“Of course you always have things that you need to work on, but overall, I thought we got it inside and got high-percentage shots,” said Minster head coach Nann Stechschulte. “I just didn’t want to come out flat and I don’t think they did.”
Correction: Thursday's Evening Leader incorrectly stated where tonight's St. Marys at Bath boys basketball game will be played. The game will be contested at Bath High School tonight, with a 6 p.m. JV tip-off.
