Division II Sectional at Spencerville
The St. Marys girls basketball team will play Celina on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 6:15 p.m. at Spencerville High School to open the Division II sectional tournament.
The winner of that game faces second-seeded Shawnee on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 6:15 p.m. at Spencerville.
The drawing for area girls basketball tournament games was held on Sunday.
Celina beat the Roughriders 60-26 on Jan. 19 in their Western Buckeye League match-up.
NEW KNOXVILLE 59, LIMA TEMPLE CHRISTIAN 48
NEW KNOXVILLE — “You want me to guard him?”
A Lima Temple Christian reserve asked the question as he drifted towards the scorer’s table to check in, emphasizing the final word as if he was being asked to do long division in front of a live studio audience.
No need to even explain who him meant, either.
NEW KNOXVILLE 45, SIDNEY LEHMAN CATHOLIC 38
SIDNEY — The New Knoxville girls basketball team outscored Sidney Lehman Catholic in the second and third quarters in a 45-38 win over the Cavaliers on Saturday afternoon.
New Knoxville freshman Meg Reineke scored a season-high 15 points. She knocked down three 3-pointers and six free throws. Ranger sophomore forward Paige Lehman added 12 points and Tiana Heidt scored nine points.

COLDWATER — New Knoxville spotted Coldwater a big lead in the first quarter and fell short in a second-half comeback attempt in a 47-43 loss to the Cavaliers on Friday night at The Palace.
“Coldwater came ready to play and for whatever reason tonight we didn’t,” New Knoxville head coach Kort Fledderjohann said.
VERSAILLES — Versailles rolled past Minster 69-50 in a Midwest Athletic Conference contest on Friday night.
Versailles came out ready right from the start as the Tigers opened the game on an 8-0 run, courtesy of three-pointers by Mitchell Campbell and Chad Winner, along with a basket by freshman Kyle Ahrens.
Minster’s Ryan Hoying hit a three-pointer to end the Tiger run, but Versailles led 8-3 with 4:30 remaining in the first quarter.
