BOYS SOCCER
ST. MARYS 4, KENTON 0: St. Marys led just 1-0 at half of its Western Buckeye League opener against Kenton, but the Riders scored three times in the second half to emerge with a 4-0 win on Thursday.
“We’ve got a target about this big,” St. Marys head coach Dave Ring said while making a big space with his arms. “We’re still getting used to everybody going after us and not giving us a pass.”
St. Marys is 2-0, 1-0 in the WBL.
ST. MARYS 3, KENTON 0: The St. Marys volleyball team opened Western Buckeye League play with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-16, win at Kenton on Thursday night. The Roughriders improved to 1-4 on the season and 1-0 in the WBL.
ST. HENRY 183, NEW KNOXVILLE 196: New Knoxville’s Tyler Shreve shot a school-record 36 in the Rangers’ 183-196 loss to St. Henry on Thursday at Arrowhead. Connor Samuel and Jake Allen added 53s for New KNoxville. Brian Kremer shot a 44 as low man for St. Henry. Alex Evers adde a 45 and Just Mescher and Troy Potkotter each had 47s. The Rangers are now 3-3 overall and 2-3 in the MAC.

The St. Marys football team faces a Kenton team that has won at least a share of the Western Buckeye League title each of the past four seasons in a league opener on Friday night at Skip Baughman Stadium.
50 Years Ago This Week – 1962
Fifty years ago this week, New Bremen’s Western Ohio Pony League baseball team concluded their remarkable season with an overall record of 20-3.
They closed the campaign with a 7-0 victory over Fort Loramie at the post-season tournament championship in Botkins. Dean Harlamert tossed a six-hit shutout for New Bremen, while earning his tenth victory of the season from the hill.

NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen Cardinals volleyball team picked up their first victory of the season Monday evening as they defeated the Botkins Trojans in three games 25-11, 25-14 and 25-21.
