MINSTER — Wapakoneta strolled through most of the Auglaize County sectional ACME baseball tournament without using its best available pitcher.
When top-seeded Wapak finally pulled its ace out of the back pocket, Chace Culver was unhittable.
Culver threw five no-hit innings and reliever Dominic Campos finished off the shutout with two scoreless innings as Wapakoneta wrapped up the Auglaize County sectional ACME title with a 7-0 win over Minster on Friday night.
HAMILTON — Spencer Rohr gave the Grand Lake offense a boost in his third game with the team and Preston Zachrich continued his solid summer on the mound as the Mariners downed the Hamilton Joes 7-1 on Friday night at Foundation Field.
Rohr, a New Bremen graduate and University of Dayton outfielder, delivered a pair of RBI hits and was 2 for 5 with a run scored. Rohr singled in a run in the first inning and added an RBI double in the eighth inning.
MINSTER — Minster’s Devon Poeppelman threw a complete game against St. Marys for the second time in four days and the Minster ACME baseball team assured itself of a trip to the district tournament next week with a 6-1 victory over the Roughriders on Thursday night.
LIMA — The Lima Locos homered twice in a 5-3 win over the Grand Lake Mariners at Simmons Field on Thursday night.
Greg Brodzinski and T.J. Losby each homered and drove in two runs for the Locos.
A pair of area grads contributed for the Mariners, who fell to 6-15 on the season.
Trevor Kill, a St. Marys Memorial grad and Southeast Missouri State pitcher, worked a scoreless inning of relief for the Mariners in the seventh inning.
