CELINA — A pair of five-run innings by the Grand Lake Mariners allowed them to get by the Cincinnati Steam 11-5 Wednesday in a Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League contest at Jim Hoess Field in Celina.
Trevor Kill, a St. Marys Memorial grad and Southeast Missouri pitcher, worked a scoreless ninth inning with a strikeout to close out the win for Grand Lake.
With a 1-0 lead going into the third inning the Mariners batted around for the first time on the night, scoring five runs. Ryan Blanchard delivered the big blow with a three-run home run.
