NEW BREMEN — New Bremen’s hopes of winning the school’s first-ever Midwest Athletic Conference baseball title slipped away in the sixth inning of a 4-2 loss to Parkway on Saturday morning in a resumed game from May 4.
New Bremen needed to defeat Parkway in the conclusion of their May 4 game to clinch the school’s first-ever title.
The Cardinals and Panthers played five innings tied 1-1 when lightning suspended the game. Saturday they completed the game.
LIMA — The St. Marys doubles team of Cole Brooks and Troy Newlove took third and advanced to the district level in the Division II sectional at UNOH on Saturday.
Newlove and Brooks, who advanced into the semifinals with a pair of wins on Thursday, won the third-place match against Celina’s Isaac Elston and Kris LeJeune with a marathon tiebreaker win in the second set, 7-5, 7-5 (15-13).
Newlove and Brooks lost their semifinal round match against Derek Smith and Jason Barton of Shawnee, 2-6, 6-4, 4-6.
