St. Marys 7, New Bremen 3
Another win over a Midwest Athletic Conference team has the St. Marys baseball team entering Western Buckeye League play in its best early-season position in five years.
The Roughriders collected a third win out of the last four games played against a MAC opponent with a patient offensive approach in a 7-3 win over New Bremen on Monday night at K.C. Geiger Park.
St. Marys at 4-2 has its best record through six games since 2007, when the Riders started the season 5-1.
St. Marys 6, Fort Recovery 1
Pitching and defense carried the day for the St. Marys softball team in its 6-1 win over Fort Recovery on Monday at K.C. Geiger Park.
St. Marys pitcher Lexi Roop dominated Fort Recovery, striking out 11 batters.
“She hit her spots,” St. Marys head coach Sue Grothause said. “Her curveball is really working well. She knew she wasn’t on, but sometimes you aren’t on and you have to stay positive and push through it.”
