TIPP CITY — New Knoxville’s chance to bury tournament-tested New Madison Tri-Village came in the first half when it built an eight-point lead.
When that didn’t happen, the Rangers were in for a physical, see-saw battle for the game’s final 20 minutes.
“That’s the way it’s been all year,” New Knoxville head coach Tim Hegemier said. “We just never seem to want to put anybody away.”
At the regional level, it’s a dangerous game to play.

The New Knoxville girls basketball team is back on the regional stage for the first time in five years with a match-up against one of the most prolific scorers in Ohio girls basketball history.
Hardly a stranger recently to regional basketball, New Madison Tri-Village hopes a third time is a charm for a breakthrough to the state tournament.
The two teams, both hailing from small Western Ohio villages of fewer than 1,000 people, meet in a Division IV regional semifinal on Thursday night at Tipp City Tippecanoe High School at 6:15 p.m.

COLUMBUS — The St. Marys girls bowling team qualified to the OHSAA state elite eight before Coldwater pulled off three straight Baker Games to rally past the Roughriders on Saturday afternoon.
St. Marys, which won the state championship a season ago, won the first two Baker games against the Cavaliers to take a commanding 2-0 lead with scores of 165-154 and 192-171.
But Coldwater won the next three games to oust the Riders, 222-164, 242-196 and 236-135.
