HEBRON -- Runners seemed to like the new course for the OHSAA state cross country championships on Saturday, with area teams and individual running at the event in Hebron.
Celina's Hannah Fleck shined in the girls Division II race. Fleck ran fourth with an 18:31 time as a senior.
SPRINGFIELD -- Minster had been here before and played like a playoff tested team.
After a few first-quarter hiccups, the Minter Wildcats went out and dominated in their second straight appearance against Springfield Catholic Central with a 48-13 win in a regional quarterfinal on Saturday night.
"The glitz and glamour of being in the playoffs , it never crossed anyone's mind," Minster head coach Nate Moore said after the game. "It's been-there, done that."
FRANKLIN — The Wapakoneta Redskins scored 18 unanswered points to overcome an early deficit and pull away to a 24-13 win over the Franklin Wildcats (9-2) in a Division II regional football quarterfinal Friday night at Atrium Stadium in Franklin.
Wapak upped its record to 10-1 on the season and earned a trip to Piqua High School next Friday where the Redskins will take on the No. 1-ranked Trotwood-Madison Rams in regional semifinal action.
MINSTER — The good news in playing a Springfield Catholic Central team that is largely unchanged from a season ago when a 5-5 Minster squad stunned the top-seeded Irish is that the Wildcats knows what to expect.
“I think it helps having played them before,” Minster head coach Nate Moore said on Tuesday. “It’s kind of a been-there, done-that thing. We’ve been to their place and seen what the locker room is like, what the field is like. All those little things about going to new place? We don’t have to deal with those.”
Elida 54, Bellevue 20
BELLEVUE — Elida advanced in the playoffs for the second straight year with a convincing 54-20 win over Bellevue on Friday night. The Bulldogs scored on each of their eight possessions. Elida quarterback Reggie McAdamsn threw for 355 yards and five touchdowns and rushed for three more touchdowns. The Bulldogs (8-3) will now face Region 10 top seed Columbus St. Francis DeSales (8-3) next Friday night.

The Minster girls cross country team looks to set a new OHSAA record for most state titles when it runs in the Division III state meet on Saturday at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
The Wildcats captured their third straight state crown and 10th overall last November at Scioto Downs in Columbus. Now Minster will need to attack a new course after the OHSAA moved the state championships site after 26 years at Scioto Downs. A win would give Minster 10 girls state titles — breaking a tie with the Caldwell boys program.
Wapakoneta head football coach Doug Frye is hoping the rough-and-tumble Western Buckeye League schedule has preapred the Redskins for the playoffs when the Wildcats will face the Franklin Wildcats in a Division II regional quarterfinal at 7:30 p.m. Friday night at Franklin High School.
“You see nine straight teams of a variety of spreads to runs,” Frye said. “You do see a lot of good football teams throughout the year.
Celina falls to Columbus DeSales
ONTARIO — The Cellina volleyball team bowed out of the Division II regional at the hands of Columbus DeSales, 25-14, 25-14, 25-17, on Thursday night.
Celina ended a season in which it won its fourth straight outright Western Buckeye League title.
St. Henry moves on, Fort Loramie loses
TIPP CITY — The St. Henry Redskins are a win away from state after downing Jackson Center, 27-25, 25-13, 25-13, on Thursday night at Tippecanoe High School.
