Coldwater headed to state, Elida stunned in second half

Coldwater is headed back to familiar territory — Northeast Ohio — in search of the school’s third state championship and a measure of atonement for last year’s loss in the championship game.

The Midwest Athletic Conference’s Coldwater Cavaliers are headed back to the state title game for the second straight season and the sixth time in the past 14 seasons after the Cavs drubbed Hicksville 41-21 in a Division V state semifinal at Lima Stadium on Friday night.

NEW BREMEN — For two and a half quarters the New Knoxville Rangers managed to stay with the Anna Rockets, but in the last four minutes of the third quarter the Rockets outscored New Knoxville 12-5 and defeated the Rangers 56-37 in the first game of the annual New Bremen Tip-Off Classic held at New Bremen.
