Helen Hazel (Swink) Smith, 100

Helen Hazel (Swink) Smith, 100, of 1011 Kensington Lane, Celina, died at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011, at the Miller House in Celina.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1911, in Wapakoneta, to Harry and Mary (Varner) Swink, and they preceded her in death.

On Aug. 25, 1933, she married Gerald William Smith, and he preceded her in death  in 1982.

She is survived be her daughter, Marilyn Sue Locke of Mansfield; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Babette O. Mack, 90

Babette O. Mack, 90, formerly of Spencerville and a resident of Otterbein St. Marys, died at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.

She was born on May 11, 1921, in Philadelphia, Pa., to William and Gretchen Rammel Brown, and they preceded her in death.

On June 2, 1946, she married Ray H. Mack, and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2008.

She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law; three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Orva C. Smallwood, 94, of Wapakoneta, died at 3 p.m. Monday,  Sept. 26, 2011, at Otterbein Cridersville.

Babette O. Mack, 90, formerly of Spencerville and a resident at Otterbein St. Marys, died at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete at the Thomas E. Bayliff Funeral Home in Spencerville.

Dorothy E. (Hemmert) Frantz, 95

Dorothy E. (Hemmert) Frantz, 95, of 305 Westview Drive, Piqua, died at 3:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at her residence.

She was born on April 26, 1916, in Fryburg, to John N. and Elizabeth (Gerstner) Gutmann, and they preceded her in death.

Dorothy lived in St. Marys and moved to Piqua following her marriage to Clifford A. Hemmert in 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1951. She then moved to Sidney in 1962 when she married Louis Frantz, and he preceded her in death in 2004.

Anna H. Milstead, 91, formerly of 29 E. Lake Drive, Wapakoneta, died at 6:40 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at the Auglaize Acres in Wapakoneta.  

She was born on March 8, 1920, near Botkins, the daughter of Frederick and Henrietta (Roettger) Egbert, and they preceded her in death.

On Nov. 23, 1944, she married Mathias “Cy” Milstead, and he preceded her in death on July 16, 2000.  

She is survived by a brother and a sister-in-law; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by six brothers; four sisters.

Eleanor M. Smith, 91

Eleanor M. Smith, 91, of Defiance, died on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at Defiance Area In-Patient Hospice Center in Defiance.

She was born on March 1, 1920, in Williams County, to Vern and Cora (Shull) Page, and they preceded her in death.

On Feb. 26, 1939, she married William Lane Smith, and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1999.

Karl P. Kohler Jr., 89, of Wapakoneta, died at 3:20 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at the Wapakoneta Manor.  

He was born on Nov. 2, 1921, in Columbus, to Karl P. and Mary Nelle (Chiesa) Kohler, and they preceded him in death.  

On Sept. 1, 1950, he married Sue Carole Spees, and she survives in Wapakoneta.

He is also survived by two sons, Kevin S. “Coach” (Carla) Kohler of Wapakoneta, Kim E. (Lisa) Kohler of Chelsea, Ala.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law.

Harold L. Suchland, 90

Harold L. Suchland, 90, of 9 Haarbye St., New Bremen, died at 1:35 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at the St. Marys Living Center.  

He was born on June 11, 1921, in St. Marys, the son of Rueben and Maude (Dowden) Suchland, and they preceded him in death.  

On Oct. 18, 1942, he married Helen E. Menchhofer, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 28, 2008.
