Nancy A. Verhorn, 79, of 806 Fox St. New Bremen, died at 10:10 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Minster.
She had been a resident there for three months.
She was born on Nov. 18, 1933, to John and Nellie (Burton) Daly. They preceded her in death.
On June 25, 1955, she married Ralph “Bud” Verhorn in LaRue.
He died on Jan. 7, 2009.
March 22nd
Marilyn C. Miller, 77, formerly of Garfield St., Minster, died at 6:22 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Heartland of Piqua.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1936, in Maria Stein, to the late Henry and Matilda (Heitkamp) Thobe. She married Dale Miller on Nov. 3, 1956, in St. Johns Catholic Church, Maria Stein. He preceded her in death on Sept. 22, 2012.
She is survived by children Kristine and Mike Gorman, Piqua and Tony and Amy Miller, Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; five sisters; five brothers; two sisters-in-law.
Werner G. “Bern” Schwartz, 58, of New Bremen, died at 11:35 a.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at his sister’s residence near St. Marys.
Werner was born in St. Marys on May 11, 1954, to the late Louis C. and Rita B. (Dues) Schwartz.
Mary C. Moeller, 82, of Celina, died at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Celina Manor, of natural causes.
She was born on March 30, 1930, in Sharpsburg, to parents Edward and Louisa Muhlenkamp Feltz, both of whom preceded her in death.
On June 2, 1948, she married Louis Moeller, who preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1996.
Kathleen Sue "Kathy" Shirk, 60, Celina, died on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Van Wert County Hospital.
She was born on May 5, 1952.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Kelly; mother, Ruth Ketrow Kelly Schnack; and stepfather, John Schnack.
She married Dennis Shirk on Oct. 2, 1971, and he preceded her in death on July 29, 1994.
Surviving are a daughter, Amanda (Charlie) Stucke; a son, Willis (Joanie) Shirk, five grandchildren; and her father-in-law, Robert Shirk, all of Celina; and a brother.
Ethan Grant Rife, 4, of Washington Township, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at his home.
He was born on Nov. 1, 2008, in Kettering.
Ethan was baptized at the Cincinnati Children's Hospital and was a member of the Church of the Incarnation.
He enjoyed watching Mickey Mouse, playing with cars and reading "The Hungry Little Caterpillar."

Opal Hunter, 79, of 404 E. South St., Botkins, died at 8:45 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2013, at her residence.
She was born on July 28, 1933, in War Branch, Ky., the daughter of McKinley and Alice (Caldwell) Napier.
On Nov. 17, 1951, she married Chester Hunter, who died on July 17, 1996.
She is survived by four daughters, Jewel Wehner of New Knoxville, Patty (Dave) Opperman of Wapakoneta, Pamela (Willis) Rehn of Botkins, Kimberly (Terry) Withrow of Wapakoneta; a son, James (Pam) Hunter of Wapakoneta; four sisters; one brother.
Lifelong Wapakoneta resident Evon E. Schlenker, 93, died on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born on Dec. 5, 1919, in Wapakoneta, the daughter of Albert and Freda (Hengstler) Knatz.
On Aug. 5, 1939, she married John H. Schlenker, and he preceded her in death on May 15, 2002.

Evon E. Schlenker, 93, of Wapakoneta, died at 9:40 p.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at her residence. Arrangements are incomplete at the Bayliff and Eley Funeral Home, Wapakoneta.
Opal Hunter, 79, of Botkins, died the evening of Monday, March 18, 2013, at her residence. Arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Homes in St. Marys.
