Carol Dunlap–Reis, 70, of 09138 Burr Oak Road in Wapakoneta, died on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on March 4, 1943, in Celina, to Hubert Byron and Margaret Alice (Burd) Davenport.
Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Byers of St. Marys, Theresa Dunlap of Lima, a son, Ed Dunlap of Wapakoneta, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and a sister, Nina (Howard) Barnhart of Cloverdale.
Anna Marie (Vogan) Diedrich, 63, of 1002 N. Sugar St. in Celina, passed away at 4:54 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at the Ohio State University Hospital in Columbus after an extended illness. She was born on Feb. 6, 1951 in Celina, to the late Adam and Carol (Greber) Vogan.
On Nov. 21, 1970, she married James Allen Diedrich, who died on Jan. 16, 1993.
Edna M. Prenger, 91, of Minster, died shortly after 3 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, at Versailles Health Care Center, where she had been a resident since April 1, 2007. She had been suffering from dementia and Alzheimer's since 2005.
She was born on Jan. 7, 1923, near St Henry, the daughter of the late Urban and Augusta (Muhlenkamp) Link.
Cathy Jo Prenger, 50, of 8737 Oldtown Road in Celina, passed away at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at her home with her family.
She was born on Dec. 31, 1963, in St. Marys, to John and Jill (Hollman) Bowers, who live in St. Marys.
On Aug. 11, 1990, she married John Prenger.
Also surviving are her children, Austin (Shelby) Prenger of Celina, brothers Mark (Patty) Bowers of St. Marys and Dan (Barbara) Bowers of Bell Center.
Cathy was preceded in death by an infant brother, Eric L. Bowers.
Emma Jane Hostetler, 93, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2014, in Gilbert, Ariz.
She was born on March 10, 1920, in St. Marys, to Guy and Nora (Baber) Schamp, Emma was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who had a passion for gardening, cooking, bingo, travel and her rose bushes.
She was a long-time member of Victory Lutheran Church. Emma worked as an assembler for many years in various companies such as a toy factory, Westinghouse and worked locally for Motorola for 19 years.
Jerome Paul VanderHorst, 84, of Naples, Fla., passed away peacefully on Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, surrounded by his wife Janet and their entire family.
Born on April 6, 1929, to Chip and Marie in St. Marys, Jerry graduated from Memorial High School, where he was elected to schools Hall of Fame.
He later received his B.S. In psychology from the University of Dayton.
Elected into the Football Hall of Fame, Jerry later served on the Board of Trustees at U.D.
Vernon E. “Vern” Doenges, 91, of Wapakoneta, died at 2:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1922, on the family farm in St. Marys Township, Auglaize County, the son of William J. and Marie (Oldiges) Doenges, who preceded him in death.
On Sept. 11, 1948, he married Eileen M. Hasson, and she died on May 18, 2005.
Carolyn E. Parmelee, 76, 316 Midlane Drive, New Bremen, passed away at 7:30 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at the Pavilion in Sidney.
She was born on Oct. 17, 1937, in Waynesville, the daughter of Carl and Esther (Kearns) Dakin and they are deceased.
She was married to Thomas Clark in July 1958, and he passed away on Oct. 11, 2009. She later married Richard Parmelee, and he preceded her in death.
Melba P. Lowery, 92, of St. Marys, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Auglaize Acres.
She was born on Sept. 30, 1921, in St. Marys, the daughter of Alva and Mary (Long) Burd, who preceded her in death.
She was also preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Dorsten, Robert Hecht, and Charles B. Lowery.
Survivors include three sons, James Dorsten of Piqua, Ronald (Mildred) Dorsten of Wapakoneta and Daniel “Lee” (Jean) Dorsten of St. Marys, nine grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
H. Gene Tester, 65, of 08304 County Road 33-A in Wapakoneta, died at 9:25 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014, at his residence. He fought a 5 1/2 year battle with multiple myeloma, and passed away peacefully with his family and close friends at his bedside.
He was born on Oct. 4, 1948, in Celina, to Howard and Wilma (Schultz) Tester.
On Aug. 21, 1971, at Westview United Methodist Church in Cridersville, he married Cathy J. Archer, who survives.
