Kenneth J. Wenning, 71, of McCartyville, died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster.
He was born on Aug. 21, 1942, in Chickasaw, to the late Joseph and the late Josephine (Depweg Moeller) Wenning.
He married Marciel L. "Marcy" Schmackers on Sept. 14, 1963, in St. Henry. She preceded him in death on Oct. 14, 2002.
He then married Barbara Feltz Boeckman on Aug. 8, 2006. She survives in McCartyville.
Dorothy S. Dammeyer, 94, of New Bremen, died at 7:08 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Otterbein Retirement Community of St. Marys. She was born on March 24, 1919, in New Bremen. She was the daughter of Henry and Edna (Greiwe) Block.
On Jan. 26, 1946, she married Richard Dammeyer who died on March 14, 2003. Survivors include her children, Duane (Marty) Dammeyer of Ojai, Calif.; Daryl (Wanda) Dammeyer of New Bremen; Daran (Jennifer) Dammeyer of Palm Desert, Calif.; grandsons Dustin and Derek Dammeyer; and great-grandson Dakota Dammeyer.
David Lyle Burnett, 72, of Spencerville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013, at his daughter Amber (Patrick) Wise’s residence in Tolleson, Ariz.. His death was the result of a rapid and progressive battle with cancer.
Born on Aug. 6, 1941, in Van Wert County, he was the son of Elmer “Butch” and Alice (Hirn) Burnett, both of whom preceded him in death. He also goes home with our Lord to be reunited with sisters, Shirley Ann Ruff and Lynda Carol Sudman.
Werner W. Stelzer, 93, of Celina, passed away on Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at Heritage Manor Nursing Center in Minster.
Born on Feb. 5, 1920, in Carthagena, the son of John and Bernadina (Wuebker) Stelzer.
He married Rosella R. “Sally” Bergman on April 27, 1946, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 27, 1990.
Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Russ Harting of Minster; a grandson; two great-grandson; a brother; two sisters.
Harold J. Baumann, 75, of Kenmore, N.Y., a retired Buffalo school teacher, died on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2013, in hospice, at the Beechwood residence.
He was the first student from Regis High School to attend Canisius College. He began his career with Sears in the credit department and then decided teaching was the job for him.
He spent 30 years with the Buffalo Board of Education as a teacher and a truant (attendance) officer. He was a member of the school masters association and the Tuesday Morning Retired Attendance Teachers Breakfast Club.
Jerome "Jerry" D. Moeller, 87, of State Route 66, Fort Loramie, passed away of natural causes at his residence late Saturday afternoon, Sept. 21, 2013.
He was born on July 21, 1926, in St. Wendelin, to Daniel and Henrietta (Stammen) Moeller.
On June 25, 1947, at St. Bernard Church in Burkettsville, Jerry married Armella "Mick" (Rindler) Moeller, who survives.
Tenson Haze Asher, 2 months old, died on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013, at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on Friday, July 12, 2013, in Columbus, a son of Erika Danielle (Schmiesing-Jones) Asher and Logan Allen Way Grieves, both of whom survive in Hicksville.
Chad A. Shindeldecker, 50, died at his residence in Ormond Beach, Fla., on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013.
He was born on Feb. 28, 1963, in Celina, to Frank Jr. and Patricia A. (Marsee) Shindeldecker.
Surviving are his father, Frank Shindeldecker Jr. of Ohio City; his mother, Patricia A. (Bob) Froning of St. Marys; and his sister.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Services for Chad were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Ketcham-Ripley Funeral Home, Rockford, the Rev. Pastor Chip Steffy officiating.
Michael L. “Doat” Bernard, 65, of 686 Coventry Green in St. Marys, passed away peacefully, surround by his family at 5:25 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer.
He was born on April 18, 1948, in St. Marys , to Charles and Mary Ann (Wehrkamp) Bernard.
He is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Shirley A. Poeppelman, whom he married on Dec. 26, 1970, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.
Marcile J. Henkener, 91, of New Knoxville, passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Friendship Village of Dublin. She had resided in Dublin for the last 12 years.
Born on May 19, 1922, on a farm near Bluffton, she was the daughter of the late Ezra Amstutz and Etta (Davidson) Amstutz.
Marcile graduated from Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and worked as a registered nurse. Her professional career included caring for wounded servicemen in Petoskey, Mich. during World War II.
