December 6th
John Milton Buterbaugh, 84, of 6761 Debra Ave., Celina, died at 3:25 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
He was born on Aug. 6, 1927, in Hagerstown, Md., to John N. and Corrine (Reightler) Buterbaugh, and they preceded him in death.
On. Feb. 23, 1952, he married Joy Tyson, and she survives him in Celina.
He is also survived by his children, Gary (Deb) Buterbaugh of Mechanicsburg, Pa., Lori (Michael) Prude of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Jill Cherni of Celina; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a sister.
Darrel M. Smith, 81, of Celina, died at 2:07 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2011, at the Laurels of Shane Hill in Rockford.
He was born on Feb. 16, 1930, in Mercer County, to Cleveland Smith and Elizabeth Dumbald, and they preceded him in death.
On Sept. 26, 1953, he married Ruth L. Boroff, and she survives him.
He is also survived by a son, Gregory (Carol) Smith of Celina; a granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served in the Korean War.
December 2nd
Frederick J. Schmitmeyer, 88, of South Lincoln Street, Minster, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys of natural causes.
He was born on Jan. 25, 1923, in Minster to Emma (Thieman) and Henry Schmitmeyer. On Aug. 23, 1947, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Coldwater, he married Alberta (Wellman) Schmitmeyer.
Billie J. Pinson, 78, of 4710 Mud Pike, Celina, passed away at 9:56 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Van Wert Inpatient Hospice Center in Van Wert.
She was born on March 3, 1933, in Summit, W.Va., to Benjamin and Brady (Massey) Lafferdy.
On April 21, 1951, she married her husband of 60 years, Clarence Pinson, who lives in Celina.
Mary Lou Nagel, 84, of 217 Sturgeon St. in St. Marys, died at 11 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on July 18, 1927, in St. Marys, to Edwin and LaVere (Hudson) Martin.
In 1958, she married LeRoy L. Nagel, who survives.
She is also survived by: three sons, David Nagel of Bowling Green, Kim (Kay) Nagel of Union City, Tenn., Kevin Nagel of St. Marys; 11 grandchildren 17 great-grandchildren.
Marie E. Wente, 90, of New Bremen, died on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2011, at Joint Township Hospital in St. Marys.
She was born on Aug. 1, 1921, in Maria Stein, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Walterbusch) Luebke. She was married on May 4, 1946, in Maria Stein to Leo R. Wente; he died on May 5, 1988.
