NEW BREMEN — A New Bremen resident died as a result of injuries suffered in a one-vehicle crash Saturday night.
According to a report from the Wapakoneta Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, troopers responded to a call regarding a crash at 10:19 p.m. Saturday on Plattner Pike, approximately one-tenth of a mile south of Southland Road. The reported driver, Shelby Fear, 19, of New Bremen, was driving a 2004 Dodge Stratus south on Plattner Pike when the vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck several trees, overturned and came to rest on its top.
MINSTER — A Minster teen was struck and killed by a car early Saturday morning in Shelby County.
According to a report issued by the Shelby County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a call at 3 a.m. Saturday in the 12000 block of Schmitmeyer Baker Road in McClean Township regarding a pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle.
ST. MARYS — While they may be Riders, Cardinals or Bulldogs by day, students at Tri Star united as humanitarians against hunger in collecting for a local food drive that donated almost 6,000 items this week.
Teacher Rob Menker said the annual holiday tradition has continued for at least 16 years; the total amount over all the years topped 40,000 after the students’ most recent haul.
Students have collected money this school year, organizing fundraisers like hot dog and donut sales to raise money.

ST. MARYS — The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a winter storm advisory for the region from 7 p.m. Sunday to noon Monday. Snowfall of 3-5 inches is expected.
