May 27: First through fourth graders are invited to a library scavenger hunt at FJ Stallo Memorial Library from noon to 1 p.m. Pack your lunch and eat it in the library. Then we’ll have the scavenger hunt. To register stop by or call 419-628-2925.

Fire Destroys Barn

ST. MARYS — Firefighters from four area departments spent close to five hours battling a blaze that destroyed a barn along Lambert Road Saturday night.

At approximately 9:01 p.m. Saturday, several calls came into the St. Marys Fire Department reporting a barn fire at 15373 Lambert Road, St. Marys. When crews arrived, they found a barn engulfed in flames.

"Our main concern was the surrounding buildings so we were protecting those exposures," St. Marys Firefighter Jason Noonan told The Evening Leader. "The barn was a total loss."

Task force arrests 10 in sweep

CELINA — Ten people were arrested on a variety of charges stemming from an investigation by the Grand Lake Task Force.

Arrested as part of the sweep, which included law enforcement from Auglaize and Mercer counties, were:

• Amanda K. Krieg, 24, Mercer County Adult Detention Facility, on three counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies.

• Billy R. Vanover, 31, Mercer County Adult Detention Facility, on two counts of trafficking in heroin, fifth-degree felonies.

Arrest Made Following Stop

CELINA — A Dayton woman was arrested Wednesday night following a traffic stop.

Sara M DeVall, 26, of Dayton, was arrested at 5:34 p.m. following a traffic stop on Johnson Street, near Buckeye Street in Celina. DeVall was charged with driving left of center and operating a motor vehicle under the influence. DeVall was also charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. Syringes, empty capsules, spoons and various prescription pills also were allegedly found.

May 17: Kelly Miller Circus is scheduled to perform at 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. today at Skip Baughman Stadium in St. Marys.

Spencerville Friends Church, 105 N. Mulberry St., will host an antique appraisal day at 1 p.m. today. No guns, coins, books, rugs, stamps or military items will be appraised.

May 18: A free community dinner will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. today at the ROC, 702 E. Spring St., St. Marys.

Deputies Make Arrest

CELINA — Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey reports that his office stopped a male subject for OVI on Tuesday night. As part of a concentrated effort to battle the heroin problem in Mercer County, Grey assigned extra patrols in an effort to combat the problem.  This is the first arrest that the “Heroin Unit” has made.
