Local honored in business hall of fame

ST. MARYS — St. Marys Memorial High School graduate Bob Gill says the guiding principle he brings to building million dollar businesses is the idea that who a company hires matters.

While that person-to-person attitude may be a reflection of his small town Ohio upbringing, Gill said companies should seek out the best for every position. Gill said he tells companies great hiring permeates the company, and makes all standards higher. That encourages people to work harder.

May 2: The St. Marys Community Garage Sales are today.

Friday Craft Circle at the St. Marys Community Public Library will be held from 10 a.m. to noon today. Crafters gather to work on their projects.

The Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9289 will host a fish fry, with a 21-piece shrimp dinner also available, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today. Adults are $7, children 10 and younger are $5 and the shrimp dinner is $7.

2nd Person Charged In Reineke Homicide

ST. MARYS — A Celina man is now the second person charged in connection with a decades old homicide.

Tracy W. Mabry, 51, 8673 U.S. 33, Celina, was arrested Thursday morning after he was indicted on one count of aggravated murder in connection with the 1981 death of Marcellus Reineke of St. Marys. He was ordered held on a $1 million cash bond.

Councilors Amend Grant Resolution

NEW BREMEN — The New Bremen Village Councilors amended a resolution regarding the village’s total amount owed for the Miami Erie Canal Towpath project Monday night during a special meeting.

The village owed a 20 percent match to the Ohio Department of Transportation to complete the project, but there was a cost increase.

Fire Damages Mercer County Home

CELINA — A Mercer County home sustained severe damage from a fire that broke out late Sunday night.

At approximately 11:02 p.m., Mercer County Central Dispatch received a call reporting a structure fire at 8673 U.S. 33, Center Township.

The initial call was placed by a neighbor, however dispatchers were soon flooded with calls reporting the fire.

No one was home at the time of the fire and the home sustained severe damage. The property is owned by Tracy Mabry Sr. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Six Arrested In Drug Probe

ST. MARYS — Six Auglaize County residents were arrested this week as part of an investigation by the Grand Lake Drug Task Force.

On Monday, law enforcement officials arrested the individuals on a variety of drugs charges. Each has been indicted by an Auglaize County grand jury on the charges.

Arrested on Monday were:

• Christopher Boneta, 25, of Cridersville, on four counts of trafficking in drugs, including marijuana and prescription drugs.

• James Valentine Jr., 23, of Wapakoneta, on two counts of trafficking in marijuana.
