ST. MARYS — The Evening Leader’s Mother of the Year winner, Mary Craft, is more than a mother to her daughter and son.
She opens her home to her children’s friends and that generosity, her daughter Abbey Craft said, is part of why she nominated her mother.
“She never thought it was good enough,” Abbey said. “She went above and beyond. Cookies on my birthday. She never forgets things like that.”
ST. MARYS — Seven members of the St. Marys Fire Department will be participating in a weeklong training session that will give them the tools necessary to assist victims of a major trauma incident.
Instructors from Medic Up, of Orefield, Penn., will be in town next week to train the paramedics in advanced medical procedures under extreme conditions including active shooters scenarios. St. Marys Fire Chief Joey Weaver said the training will be a benefit to the paramedics as well as local residents.
NEW BREMEN — Mike Heuker and his high school engineering students addressed the New Bremen Board of Education Wednesday night to talk about new programs and equipment that is supporting the student projects.
“Thanks for investing in the program with the 3-D printer,” Heuker said.
The printer is allowing students to design anything that falls within a 5-by-5-by-5 foot area. The printer produces the item out of plastic.
“It starts with basically nothing, just a platform,” Heuker said.
