ST. MARYS — 18-year-old senior Brooke Hertenstein exudes happiness and positivity and her cheerful outlook, passion and enthusiasm shine through in every project and endeavor she tackles.
Music and the arts are a big part of Hertenstein’s life, but within Memorial High School, she is involved in much more. Hertenstein is a member of National Honor Society, Relay For Life, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, band and choir.

ST. MARYS — The girls at Kristina’s Dance Escape in St. Marys are gearing up for competition season with rehearsals of ballet, jazz, tap and hip hop numbers that they’ll perform all over Ohio and Indiana this spring.
Kristina Blockberger, who has taught dance in St. Marys for 14 years, said the girls audition for spots in the summer on the more serious team.
“I danced all my life and did it competitively,” Blockberger said.
ST. MARYS — A recently proposed bill in the Ohio House could give some senior citizens free hunting and fishing licenses.
Ohio Rep. Nick Barborak, of the 5th House District, introduced House Bill 25 — a measure that seeks to provide free fishing and hunting licenses along with fur taker, deer and wild turkey permits and wetlands habitat stamps to Ohioans 65 and older. Barborak, a Democrat from Lisbon, said the idea has been floating around Columbus for years.
