CELINA — Deputies are investigating the apparent suicide of a Rockford man in northern Mercer County.
According to a news release issued by Mercer County Sheriff Jeff Grey, deputies were dispatched to Township Line Road, north of U.S. 33, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday via a 911 call received by Van Wert County authorities.
ST. MARYS —Before the St. Marys Board of Education meeting Wednesday night, community members heard from a representative from the Ohio Department of Education.
Mary Lou Holly, who works in the Office of Finance and Program Services, is the Ohio Department of Education Regional Coordinator for District 2. Holly reviewed a presentation she created on a staffing analysis of the St. Marys City Schools.
ST. MARYS — As his sixth week in office draws to an end, St. Marys Mayor Pat McGowan briefed members of the St. Marys Rotary Club on his goals and aspirations for the city.
McGowan talked about the city’s strengths and weaknesses as well as some looming financial issues. One of the city’s biggest assets, he noted, is its financial footing.
“The city is blessed with its finances,” McGowan said. “Overall we are in good shape.”
