NEW KNOXVILLE — The New Knoxville Electrical Department plans to renew a contract with Hoge Lumber to buy surplus electricity for the village during peak usage hours.
Village Administrator Rex Katterheinrich said the lumber company is a large power user but also uses its wood as fuel to generate electricity.
The contract has minor modifications this year, including a stipulation that during peak hours, from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., the village will buy electricity at the same price they pay to American Municipal Power.
