New Knoxville Hits All Levels

NEW KNOXVILLE — Preliminary test results indicate that  New Knoxville Local School hit all 26 state indicators this school year.

The Ohio Achievement Assessment tests students in grades three through eight on various subjects. New Knoxville High School Principal Linda Tebbe said, according to what she reviewed, New Knoxville Local School made District Annual Yearly Progress (AYP) and had a Performance Index of more than 100 for elementary, high school and the district, in addition to achieving all 26 state indicators.

City Bans Bath Salts

ST. MARYS — The city of St. Marys became the second municipality in Auglaize County and the latest across the region to ban the sale and possession of synthetic drugs marketed as bath salts.

During their meeting Monday night, members of the St. Marys City Council approved, under suspension of rules, an emergency ordinance banning sale, possession and manufacture of the synthetic drug that has dominated the news in recent months. The substance, marketed as bath salts, often contains chemical compounds that resemble cocaine and LSD.
