ST. MARYS — Residents will be able to participate in a seasonal activity, while an ice rink has a temporary home at a local park this month.
The ice skating rink that made its debut at Winterfest in 2010 will be a part of the Festival of Lights in K.C. Geiger Park this month.
"He is still hoping to put it up at K.C. Geiger," St. Marys Optimist Winterfest Chair Virg Bertke said. "It will be back at Memorial Park for Winterfest on the 18th."
ST. MARYS — K.C. Geiger Park will light up this holiday season as the inaugural City of St. Marys Festival of Lights opens this weekend.
The Festival of Lights will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Friday and Saturday night through Dec. 23. The display was scheduled to open last weekend but was postponed because of weather, and will kick off at 6 p.m. Friday, featuring a slew of light displays throughout K.C. Geiger Park.
ST. MARYS — Area residents can do their part in helping with the cleanup of Grand Lake St. Marys by putting in their own aeration systems.
The recent Battelle Interim Report to the Grand Lake St. Marys Restoration Commission recommended aeration technologies in select sheltered areas, according to a news release. Residents are able to assist with the aeration of the lake waters — 10 percent of the lake water is located in channels on Grand Lake St. Marys — by putting an aeration system in their channel.
