For all the pressure that comes with playoff football, Minster head coach Geron Stokes said his team has embraced the atmosphere. Now they’ll get to soak it in one more week in the famed Horseshoe.

While Minster’s opponent Kirtland is making its fourth straight appearance in the state championship game, the move in venue to Ohio Stadium adds to the excitement of Friday’s Division VI state championship game.
The Kirtland Hornets aren’t into tricks, gimmicks or complication. Two tight ends, a pair of fullbacks, a running back dotting the I-formation and the crunching of shoulder pads.
“Our motto is we’re going to do what we do,” Kirtland head coach Tiger LaVerde said on Monday. “We always say we’re going to learn these five plays and run them better than anybody in the state.”
Those five plays have been enough to make the Hornets into one of Ohio’s best programs.
