FORT RECOVERY — Approximately 6,000 people will descend on Fort Recovery this weekend for the National Tractor Pull Association Grand National Tournament.
The event will feature truck and tractor pullers who will fight to obtain the top scores, working for weeks to perfect an 11-second pull.
Promoter Nick Dues said a tractor pull involves a pantagraph system of weights, where as it’s pulled the weight shifts toward the front of the vehicle.
Thomas A. Broyles, 72, of Ottawa, and Wildwood, Fla., died on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at his residence at Continental Country Club in Wildwood, Fla.
He was born on Dec. 22, 1942, in St. Marys to Warren and Virginia (Fischer) Broyles.
Roger A. Wiehe, 72, of 751 Deford St., Celina, died on Thursday, July 24, 2014, at his residence after a long illness.
He was born on Sunday, Jan. 25, 1942, in New Bremen, the son of Victor and Marie (Luebkeman) Wiehe.
He married Sandra Fannon on Sept. 11, 1970, in Celina, and she survives at the residence.
He is also survived by two daughters, Wendy Wiehe Hooper, of Virginia, and Kimberly (Tony) Woods, of St. Marys; and by three grandchildren, Darren Sturgill, Hunter Woods and Mackenzie Woods.
John K. “Hiney” Barhorst, 61, of Fort Recovery Road, Fort Loramie, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2014, in the Wilson Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.
He had been in an automobile accident on Ohio 47, but the cause of the accident has not yet been determined.
He was born on Nov. 7, 1952, in Sidney, to the late Henry and Mary (Spillers) Barhorst.
On June 20, 1992, at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in Newport, John married Anne Marie (Kremer) Barhorst, who survives at home.

The St. Marys and Awaji City Youth Delegates will host a luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the gazebo in Memorial Park. The lunch is provided through donations and donations are accepted.
July 24: New Bremen Public Library will host story time for those 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. today.
Preschool Storytime will be at 10:30 a.m. today at New Knoxville Library for children ages 3 to 5.
NEW BREMEN — Tis the season for festivals and fundraisers, and the New Bremen Fireman’s Picnic happening on Saturday will provide fun and activities all day long.
The event will begin at 7 a.m. with registration for the 11th annual Fireman’s Memorial 5K at Crown Pavilion, and run until until midnight with a performance from the local band Haywired. Most of the day’s activities will take place at the Pavilion, Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce Director Logan O’Neill said.

A Book Discussion in the Wissman Room at Otterbein St. Marys will be held at 6:30 p.m. today. "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn will be discussed.

Jean Keysor, 85, of 514 N. Front St., St. Marys, died at 10:03 a.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at Vancrest of St. Marys Nursing Home.
She was born on Friday, Jan. 11, 1929, in St. Marys, the daughter of Floyd and Blanche (Wurster) Chilcoat.
She married Virgil “Jack” Keysor on Aug. 3, 1945, and he preceded her in death in February 2005.
Lorraine E. Nolte, 89, of St. Marys, died at 7:20 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center in Lima.
She was born on Aug. 27, 1924, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Joseph “Quince” and Leona (Caldwell) Alspach.
On Jan. 1, 1944, she married Donald E. Nolte, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 1986.
