WAPAKONETA 38, DEFIANCE 0

WAPAKONETA — The unbeaten Wapakoneta Redskins took care of business Friday against the winless Defiance Bulldogs, and in the process, received some help from the Kenton Wildcats.

Wapakoneta (6-0, 5-0), with a huge contest looming next Friday against the Ottawa-Glandorf Titans, shut down Defiance during a 38-0 win Friday in a Western Buckeye League varsity football contest.

St. Marys muscles past Celina 21-13

ST. MARYS —  St. Marys was pinned back to its own seven yard line, protecting an eight-point lead with 5:40 left in Friday night’s homecoming game against rival Celina. 

Celina knew what was coming.  They just couldn’t stop the bruising, powerful rushing duo of a freshman in his first breakout game and a senior who has been punishing opposing defenses all season.

Marilyn L. Armstrong, 84

October 3, 2014

Marilyn L. Armstrong, 84, of 125 Windsor Drive, St. Marys, died at 8:51 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 2, 2014, at her residence.

She was born on June 29, 1930, in Allen County, the daughter of Raleigh and Hazel (Prine) Point.

She married Paul Armstrong on Nov. 22, 1948, in Delphos, and he preceded her in death in 1996.

Iva Waunita “Nita” Hagan, 89

October 3, 2014

Iva Waunita “Nita” Hagan, 89, of Holgate, died on Monday, Sept. 29, 2014, while visiting her sister in Michigan.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1925, on the family farm in Barryton, Mich., to Carl and Linda (Murray) Gibbs. Nita was preceded in death by her husband John Hagan of Saginaw, Mich.

Thomas D. Hanslik, 58

Thomas D. Hanslik, 58, of St. Marys, died at 5:28 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at Celina Manor Nursing Home.

He was born on Jan. 2, 1956, in Lorain, to James Hanslik and Lucille (Thompson) Hanslik-Tuttle, both of whom preceded him in death.

He is survived by a sister, Peggy (Robert) Cauble  of Modesto, Calif.;    brother Timothy Hanslik  of Celina; sister Pamela (Michael) Hays  of Union; nephew Justin Hays; and niece Amber Hays.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Terry Hanslik.

Mary E. Egbert, 80

Mary E. Egbert, 80, of Botkins, died at 12:32 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2014, at the Gardens in Wapakoneta.  

She was born on May 19, 1934, in New Bremen, the daughter of the late Walter and Lorena (Timmerman) Fischbach.  

On Oct. 7, 1955, she married Adrian Egbert, who survives in Botkins.
