March 25, 2014

Linda L. Lochtefeld, 55, of New Bremen, died at 5:08 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2014, at her residence.  

She was born on July 15, 1958, in St. Marys, the daughter of the late Donald and Jane (Althoff) Baxter.  

On May 29, 1982, she married Joe Lochtefeld, who survives in New Bremen.

Thomas A. Smith, 90, of 307 Stinebaugh Drive in Wapakoneta, formerly of St. Marys, died at 12:26 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014, in the emergency department of JTDM Hospital in St. Marys.

He was born on March 6, 1924, in St. Marys to Roy and Louise (Hartzog) Smith.

On Feb. 6, 1944, in Philadelphia, Pa., he married Marian I. Sprague, who died on June 24, 2013.

ST. MARYS — More details have been released in the death of an Auglaize County man on March 9.

In a news release, Auglaize County Sheriff Al Solomon said preliminary autopsy results have shown no foul play is suspected in the death of Richard Moon III, who was found deceased and hanging from a bridge on Washington Pike Road. Auglaize County Coroner Thomas Freytag has released Moon’s cause of death as being postural or positional asphyxia.

James R. “Jim” Donart, 71

March 20, 2014

James R. “Jim” Donart, 71, of Albuquerque, N.M., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 16, 2014.

Jim was born in Lima, to Wilfred and Doris Donart.

He was a graduate of Bowling Green State University. Jim entered the U.S. Air Force, where he honorably served for 21 years. After retirement, he taught science for more than 20 years in the Rio Rancho Public Schools.

Jim was a long-time member of Sagebrush Community Church, where he served in multiple ministries. His greatest joys in life were God and family.

Cara Ann Young, 47

March 14, 2014

Cara Ann Young, 47, passed away peacefully at her residence, 814 Coligny Drive, St. Marys, on Thursday, March 13, 2014, after a battle with cardiac amyloidosis.

She was born on Feb. 18, 1967, in Sidney, to Vernon J. and Madonna C. (Post) Huber, and both survive in Maria Stein.

She married William A. Young on April 27, 1995, and he survives at the residence.

Two Arrested In Bar Incident

WAPAKONETA — A Minford man was arrested Friday morning for allegedly possessing a firearm while intoxicated.

At 2:28 a.m., officers from the Wapakoneta Police Department responded to the Ohio Bar, 17 E. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta, on a report of a man inside the establishment with a gun. Upon officers' arrival, two males fled the bar. Officers also learned that one of the suspects flashed the gun inside the bar. A short foot pursuit ensued and both suspects were taken into custody and a loaded handgun was recovered.

Janet E. Thompson-Steen, 75, of 134 LeBlond St., Celina, died at 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at the Celina Manor Nursing Home after a short illness.

She was born on Sept. 5, 1938, in Piqua, the daughter of William and Nellie (Davidson) Prasuhn.

She married John “Jack” Steen on April 18, 1994, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 1, 2011.
