ST. MARYS — In the wake of a string of home invasions stretching from Lima to Dayton, a local police chief says there are a handful of things residents can do to keep homes — and themselves — safe from criminals.

“You should trust your intuition,” St. Marys Police Chief Greg Foxhoven said. “Animals have it. If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.”

BOYS BASKETBALL: Minster falls in double OT to Spencerville

December 24, 2011

SPENCERVILLE — Derek Goecke’s short jump shot with three seconds left in double overtime proved to be the game winner, as the Bearcats defeated the Minster Wildcats, 55-53, on Friday night.

“We went late to our ball screen action,” Spencerville head coach Kevin Sensabaugh said. “It worked for us because they had trouble defending the ball screen late and we felt we had a little advantage. We asked Eli (Bowers) where he wanted to catch the ball and him and Derek (Goecke) had a two-man game on the weak side and they executed and scored.”
