Robert Dieringer, 91, of Social Circle, Ga., died at 4:14 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, his residence.
He was born on Friday, June 25, 1920, in St. Marys, the son of Frank Dieringer and Minnie Wieser Dieringer, and they preceded him in death.
On Aug. 1, 1946, Robert married Gladys Louise Hundley, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 11, 1996. They had been married for 50 years.
Charles “Chuck” Engle, 72, of Celina, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Joint Township District Memorial Hospital.
He was born on June 29, 1939, in Kodak, Ky., to Benjamin Engle and Marie Sumner, and they preceded him in death.
On Dec. 2, 1961, he married Joan Murray, and she survives him.
He is also survived by a son, Charles Engle Jr. of St. Marys; a daughter, Karen (Charles) Tester of Celina; five brothers; five grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

75 years ago: East Bank Road was closed to traffic because spray blowing in from Lake St. Marys froze and formed a coating across the roadway. Already 20 inches above normal highs, it rose approximately two feet in the last day.
ST. MARYS — More than 30 speakers decked out in patriotic garb and armed with props took to the stage Sunday afternoon as part of an annual speech contest.
The St. Marys Eagles hosted the annual St. Marys City God, Flag and Country speech contest. The event featured speeches ranging from the abolition of slavery to how to make an American pizza and included three age groups — 10 to 11-year-olds, 12 to 13-year-olds and 14 to 15-year-olds.
COLDWATER — It's a super sectional, even if it's not a super sectional by definition.
Northwest Ohio doesn't have the expanded version of the re-seeded first four rounds of the tournament, but the Division IV sectional at Coldwater lived up to the name as the top two seeded teams in the brackets went down on Saturday night.
"It can happy really easily in this sectional," New Knoxville head coach Tim Hegemier said.
Hegemier and his Rangers had plenty to celebrate.

SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP — In a season of close calls and frustrating endings, the regular season and Western Buckeye League finale might’ve delivered the most powerful punch to the St. Marys boys basketball team’s collective stomach yet.
Shawnee’s Thad Vernon hit a game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to lift the Shawnee Indians to a 57-55 victory over St. Marys on Friday night.
NEW BREMEN — Two years ago Fort Recovery had a chance at the outright MAC title, but after a lengthy delay because of fire alarms, new Bremen came back to spoil the party and share a piece of the title.
This time the Indians stayed out of theblotter and atop the MAC standings.
ST. MARYS — A city official says residents who are not adhering to rules regarding refuse collection are adding to his department’s costs.
St. Marys Solidwaste Supervisor Doug Metz said some residents are not following tag and size rules regarding refuse collection. Some residents try to skirt the tag requirements by placing too much garbage in bags or by using oversized containers.
ST. MARYS — It has been an ag-filled week at St. Marys Memorial High School this week as a group of local students have been showcasing the agriculture community as part of an annual event.
This week was National FFA Week, and Memorial High School students had put on various activities to celebrate the week designated to bring light to agriculture.
“It’s fun,” FFA Student Adviser Austin Zumbroegel said. “We get to express the farming side of us.”
