Harry Benjamin “Benny” Young Jr., 57, of Summerfield, Fla., formerly of Mendon, died on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2012, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born on Dec. 7, 1954, in Celina, to Harry B. “Bennie” Young Sr. and Doris Henderson Young, and they survive in Mendon.
He is also survived by a son, Harry B. Young III of Mount Vernon; two daughters, Doris (Matthew) Crim of Mount Vernon and Crystal (Brent) Kline of Van Wert; four brothers; four sisters; three grandchildren; his girlfriend.
Walter E. Stemen, 64, of Irmscher Boulevard, Celina, died on Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on July 17, 1947, in Celina, to Rex and Vera (Smelser) Stemen, and they preceded him in death.
Walter is survived by three children, Natalie (Tony) Neading of Apison, Tenn., Tammy Stemen of Columbus and Cindy (Ty) Suzuki of Rockford; three grandchildren; four siblings.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Lehman-Hogenkamp-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
Blanche O. Muter, 76, of 225 E. Fayette St., Celina, died on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.
She was born on Jan. 17, 1936, in St. Marys, to Otis and Minnie (Heath) Chilcoate, and they preceded her in death.
On July 26, 1952, she married Glen E. Muter, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 6, 1998.
Blanche is survived by four children, Dennis (Tracy) Muter of Springfield, Terry (Ann) Muter of Celina, Janice (James) Curry of Celina and Brenda (Jody) May of Celina; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister.
Philip Harrington Herzing, 86, a longtime resident of St. Marys, died at 1:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012.
Arrangements are pending at Cisco Funeral Home in St. Marys.
Miriam E. Engh, 94, a resident of Otterbein St. Marys Retirement Community, formerly of 1614 Brown’s Lake Drive, Burlington, Wisc., died at 8:46 a.m. Monday, Feb, 20, 2012, at Otterbein St. Marys.
Funeral arrangements are being completed with the Miller Funeral Home in St. Marys.
Marvin H. Watercutter, 72, of Hemlock Street, Celina, died on Sunday, Feb. 19, 2012, at his residence.
He was born on Nov. 23, 1939, in Minster, to Albert and Leona (Hartings) Watercutter, and they preceded him in death.
On July 10, 1965, in St. Marys, he married Rebecca “Becky” Watercutter (Makley), and she survives in Celina.
NEW BREMEN — An area chamber of commerce held its annual luncheon, showcasing where the chamber has been and its goals for this year, workforce development and presented awards Tuesday afternoon.
Members of the Southwestern Auglaize County Chamber of Commerce gathered at Faith Alliance Church in New Bremen to hear Chamber Director Scott Frey’s annual report and heard from New Bremen Economic Development Director Angela Hamberg on the West Central Ohio Workforce Development Initiative.
ST. MARYS — Zoning on recently annexed land into the city along County Road 33A will wait a little longer.
Members of the St. Marys Planning Commission Tuesday night voted to table the zoning of 32.4 acres of land that was recently annexed into the city. Board members decided to table the matter after a few adjacent property owners, who own land outside the city limits, questioned the proposed industrial zoning of one of the parcels during a public hearing before the meeting.
