ST. MARYS — The region started 2015 with an uptick in unemployment rate, something two local economic development officials attributed to historic seasonal patterns.
ST. MARYS — Asian Pop Culture Club will be held at 3:15 p.m. today at the St. Marys Community Public Library. Grades 6-12 only.
ST. MARYS — Ashlan Schwarck introduces touring guests to “Pat,” a human model students use in class at Tri Star. The students hosted an open house for prospective students and gave them a look into some of the classes offered at the facility.
WAPAKONETA — A Waynesfield man was arrested Saturday morning after a traffic stop allegedly turned up more than 200 grams of marijuana.
At 12:43 a.m. Saturday, an officer with the Wapakoneta Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Defiance Street and Glynwood Road for an equipment violation. The department's K-9 unit was called to the scene and reportedly indicated there could be drugs in the vehicle.

WAPAKONETA — Stephanie Albers, the daughter of Luke and Sue Albers of Minster, took home the title of the 2015 Auglaize County pork industry queen during the Auglaize County Pork Producers annual banquet Sunday night.
Albers, a 2013 graduate of Minster High School and current student at University of Northwest Ohio, beat out three other participants for the crown.

MOUNT BLANCHARD — Josh Young scored 24 points — including a key 3-pointer to tie the game late in regulation and the Roughriders outscored Shawnee 11-2 in overtime to earn their first sectional title since 2005. St. Marys will face Wapakoneta next Wednesday at Liberty-Benton at 8 p.m.
